I don't know what's cooler, living in Kauaii or witnessing filming for JP4!! That's awesome man!
ReplyDinosaur.FanaticJurassic World ForumBye Trex :(Apr 14, 2013
I understand. Still, I kind of enjoyed the break-off of the whole InGen plotline to a more down-to-earth kind of story. JP3 showed the re-uniting of a family over a life or death experience, and it included lots of amazing and cool (though not always correct) dinosaurs!
ReplyHarryscott107Jurassic World ForumBye Trex :(Apr 14, 2013
I just felt JP3 took a different approach from the first 2, it didn't really have that great of a story. JP was the birth of the island, and JP2 was InGen trying to rebuild the park in a city. While JP3 was a kidnapping suicide quest to save a kid. I loved the raptors and pteras, but I also feel that everyone wants to go super scientific in JP4 when JP3 was off.
Thanks for saying it kindly though, other people would be less nice.

Nooo! Don't exclude JP3 just because of the Spinosaurus! It's a great movie nonetheless.

hey they didn't all have feathers (this is quite the heated debate trust me im in 3 right now) if they didn't do the feathers on the raptors the team at ilm said they weren't going to do raptors because they were over done in the other jp movies
as for the spino winning, jp 3s Dino supervisor jack horner said he was tired of seeing rex win again and again so he switched it up... when he was interviewed on the subject he personally said the rex would've won in real life
also the movie was released in 2001 by my standards that is not a long time new dinos come in because they want to keep the franchise moving foreword with new creatures

you see we cant have humans and dinos genetically "mixed" together...
also who in there right mind would do that.... i mean obviously ingen isn't that dumb they would NEVer do something like that...
but reckon that the out break has just begun it might not fully help the cause
by apocalypse if there was an outbreak of them to the mainland
im sorry but the idea of human dinos sounds REALLY farfetched...

I mean I liked the idea with the lizard concepts but in a way it can be like humans where exposed to a virus and it genetically altered their dna so now their half human half dino. It can be like District 9 in a way.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C4S_UIjlodM/TdPwofts_pI/AAAAAAAAAI4/vRbtsKJvQAs/s1600/district9_4.jpg
so basically they are not fully dino hybrids yet but it's just starting to mutat.

Xenothinker is spot on. Scientists don't know anything about the books and then they make conjectures about how the movie will affect science.
And MrHappy, exactly my point! If I want to learn about dinosaurs I'm not gonna go watch Jurassic Park where we have a Spinosaurus killing a T-rex and velociraptors twice as big as they should be! (why aren't scientists mad at those, by the way??) Thanks for your input! :)

What they could do is maybe have like a plot what they had an idea in the lost world book that wasn't in the films, have mysterious animals wash up the shoreline of Costa Rica. So United Nations hire a group of scientists to go to the original island of Isla Nublar and find out there is a disease spreading that could cause a wide epidemic.
This could be like a world war z type of movie but with dinosaurs instead of zombies. Where the people that worked on the island and went on the boat during the storm carried the manmade disease with them. As the virus was a genetic mutation and it has altered the humans genomes and accidentally changed their biology and have some of their features with scales (think district 9 when he opened the spray). Now over half the world population is infected with this mutation and the U.N hire scientists to go to Isla Nublar to where it started the infection and try to find a cure, but with time running out, and a mysterious Dino stalking them, will they be able to save humanity?
I apologize if anyone hates this plot

I understand I was just throwing it out there I completely respect you ideas. It works to have the feathered Dinos in the cold. But from a scientific standpoint, I believe in your post comparing a T. rex to a chicken. Either way as long as there aren't a load over of feathers I am completely fantastic with it. Let the park run wild!

I can't wait for the movie to come out. I first saw Jurassic Park when I was around 8. well prime lord it wouldn't of had feathers for one reason there for warmth on nublar/sorna it wouldve been too warm for feathers at all
my idea is that all these "feathered" dinos we keep finding in china is because its MUCH MUCH colder in china then it is in costa rica....
but i do respect your point prime lord all they need is crests... the raptors in the first movie didn't have them because they were all female, but in the third movie only the alpha white raptor was female
also the baby in TLW would've grown out of it feathers the feathers are for VERY young juveniles and hatchlings... sometimes in colder climates
my point is the ingen dinosaurs didn't have feathers (cept for the crests) because it was much too warm
Replyx_paden_xJurassic World ForumJurassic Park 4 should be a apocalyptic kind of story. Apr 13, 2013
the thing about apocalypses is that they're so complex the human brain is drawn to the idea
the most common known apocalypse is a zombie apocalypse, but there is many many many different apocalypses
a dinosaur apocalypse dosent sound to bad. but with all the zombie apocalypse movies coming out it may not get that extra credit the jp franchise deserves
as mr happy said you have to stay near the islands the isolation of the islands IS KEY to the franchise
ReplyXenothinkerJurassic World ForumJurassic Park 4: skepticism arisingApr 13, 2013
this is a stupid debate. scientists should look at the premise of these movies, and, oh I dunno, read the books. The dinos in the films and books can conceivably be nothing more than "theme park monsters". iNgen wanted to create a zoo of dinos, and they simply did not think the dinos would be believable as the feathered kind we now know exist. In fact, in the books, it is alluded to Wu moving dinos through various version numbers until they got to where they wanted the dinos to be, and even then, he wanted to push the science doctoring further.
In closing, you can surmise the dinos we see on these islands are, n fact, not really dinos, but genetically altered dinos that were bred to fit the needs of a mega corporation.

Is this for real? If it is, that's awesome and I would so go to a museum to see that. I just have some doubts because of the sheer size of it. For one, do you have any idea how much food it would need to sustain itself per day? Teeth the size of a full grown man, huh? I that that was how big the sail is.
ReplyLord VaderJurassic World ForumJurassic Park 4: skepticism arisingApr 13, 2013
Sorry if I made it a feather or not discussion, that was just the first issue I thought of and you mentioned it. I really don't care if it is factual or not, I know enough to pass it off as fake or legit, I just want it to be like the other movies (the first one mostly). It would be cool to have lots of dinosaur battles (T.Rex vs Charcharadontosaurs, Spino, Gigantosaurus, Mapusaurus, and any other predator you can think of in any fight), but that would be false information, which would make the movie scientifically inaccurate, but it would be cool. If I want to learn stuff and not watch an awesome movie, I will watch a documentary or do research, or go to a museum.

If there are feathers at all there should be very minimal and one thing that I might not agree about x_paden_x is that remember in the lost world the t rex pup didn't have feathers. A crest on a velociraptor is fine but minimal feathers is what I say.

Here are my thoughts:
First of all, I didn't really intend this to become another feather/non-feather discussion (no offense). I respect all your views regarding whether or not dinosaurs should or shouldn't have them, as well as which dinosaurs, and how many feathers, etc. My question is, if Jurassic Park is supposed to be a heart-stopping, thrilling, action-packed, fan-adored movie, WHY are scientists treating it like only a documentary? What's more important, that Jurassic Park 4 appeals to fans and turns out to be a great movie, or that it corresponds perfectly with scientific discovery? Would these children (who are apparently being led astray, according to scientists) really care about "being denied knowledge," or will fans be just as happy with their classic Jurassic Park dinosaurs?
My opinion: Jurassic Park 4 will not be the same without classic dinos, and I like the director's decision. Yes, I think some dinosaurs (the raptors) would look cool with a coat of feathers, but I'm not going to have blow a fuse because they don't have feathers. I don't understand why scientists can't see Jurassic Park 4 for what it will hopefully be, a stunning movie that reminds us of the original, but instead they have to rebuke it for not being up to date with science.
As for the article, I agree with Paden and T-rex90, why would someone be so un-enthusiastic about a sequel to one of the best movies ever made?
ReplyLord VaderJurassic World ForumJurassic Park 4 should be a apocalyptic kind of story. Apr 13, 2013
That is a pretty good idea for a different movie. It just would not be Jurassic Park without the islands, the people trying to escape, not kill, the dinosaurs, and where would the Jurassic Park theme come in? At the end of the movie when the Americans (it's always the Americans) bomb the island of Isla Nublar and the bomber and fighters fly by? If that is the case, bomber should be a B52 stratofortress (google it, they're huge) and the fighters should be A10 Thunderbolts. But this is ideas for a different movie.

There will always be skepticism and criticism no matter what. I'm actually glad they decide not to use feathered dinosaurs for the 4th film because really, why call them dinosaurs which last I checked meant "Terrible Lizard" when you're just going to have them look like a bunch of overgrown chickens. Some feathers are ok, like the raptors having some on their heads in jurassic park 3 but full covered? no no that's just stupid to me. And as far as the Sean O' Neill article goes, just another neh saying critic, I don't care what he thinks, I'm excited for this film like many others on here.

As far as skepticism/false information goes, of course there's going to be some (it's Jurassic Park, where they brought dinosaurs to life with blood found in ancient Mosquitos, and the holes in the DNA replaced with frog DNA). The whole concept on dinosaurs having feathers is kind of strange. Maybe on the raptors as a little crest, or on the juveniles, but not T.Rex. A little crest I could deal with, but not full body coverage (just imagine a T.Rex covered in feathers as it enters the screen, and all the other dinosaurs point and laugh at it because it looks like mega chicken). T.Rex should not have feathers, but it is nice that people are taking the new discoveries and adding them to shows, and possibly movies.

i think its good they didn't use feathers NO ONE WANTS TO BE CHASED BY A GIANT CHICKEN thats all im saying. when i first saw jurassic park i thought it was dead on (course i saw it when I was six so thats around the time every kid loves dinosaurs) it didn't bother me
, the fact of FULLY feather dinosaurs sounds stupid to me, im okay with some feathers (jp 3) but not fully feathered. jurassic park is somewhat a documentary not really but it gives us the best view of dinosaurs ever (what makes it not a documentary is the fact that humans didn't have anything to do with dinosaurs)
why sam isn't excited for the 4th jp baffles me if i had his position id love it

I agree with everyone who says T-Rex would win. I also definitely agree that Spinosaurus is a fragile predator and would have lost in a fight with rex. I think that Speilberg was better, only bc of one thing; Joe tried to inform people of other Dino's besides the popular ones, like t-Rex. However, he took it too far. I mean, They were already on both islands and there was no indication whatsoever that another giant predator was on the island, which could be explained. But if in JP3 all you see is Spino Spino Spino, then something is wrong.
