You're right, name one thing we really know about dinosaurs.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
Perhaps, but in the end, it really is just speculation. I'm sure we can all agree on that.

T. rex is fairly smart, but I don't think it has the pack hunting expirience it needs to take down a huge sauropod. They were so big, they only would need one or two rexes to go out and hunt at a time. The others would stay and babysit.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
I think Tyrannosaurus was smarter than you realize. For one thing, it lived with giant sauropods, Alamosaurus. It may not have been as big, but T-rex would still have some experience with fighting sauropods. Also, Tyrannosaurus was the smartest of the large theropods. Not raptor smart, but smart enough.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumTyrannosaurus vs AnkylosaurusJul 8, 2013
Thanks. I knew that a T-rex would have some trouble taking on a healthy Ankylosaurs, so I used the environment to level the playing field, so to speak.
PS- Hope you guys liked the pics.

Wow, great job, I liked how you added the end of the era part into it, killing the Ankylosaurus.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
Ok, even with all this, A. T. rex can't plan attacks. B. the sauropod is huge, even if it is light, it would still be 100 tons. C. The sauropod would be too tall for T. rex to attacks, they could attack legs, but the sauropod would just have to kick and by by T. rex. And one more thing, T. rex is not suicidal, crazy, strong, and confident, but not suicidal.

Well done. Nice conclusion.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumAncient Lives:Episode 4:New WorldJul 8, 2013
It was still good. Shows that even a top predator does not have an easy life. Well done. I'm saying either Dunkleosteous or Hyneria. Not sure which. Both are pretty cool.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
Also, we are using the biggest possible size for Tyrannosaurus. Even I don't think it was very likely, but we do have to level the playing field a bit.
Replyx_paden_xDinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
With coronation planned tactics and team work a pack of rexes could bring one down,
rexes did travel in packs, we already sealed the lid on this...
fight's still open... total count (that was clearly stated)
yes 5
no 1
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumThe Forgotten Giants: Ultrasauros & GigantosaurusJul 8, 2013
Indeed. Some claim that Ultrasauros was even capable of weighing 180 tons. Same size range as a blue whale. A little extreme maybe, but I've heard stranger. Certainly both were huge and should be recognized.
Replyfuturepaleontologist1Dinosaurs ForumThe Forgotten Giants: Ultrasauros & GigantosaurusJul 8, 2013
Ultrasauros isn't neccesarily forgotten, but Gigantosaurus is. Definitely two giants for the recordboooks.

I like it. We need to bring back the Dino info age
ReplyBrontosaurus>ApatosaurusDinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
No way. Amphicoelias would be at least 100 tons. A 65 foot Rex would only be about 25 feet tall and Amphicoelias would be 40. I think the whole 65 foot Rex thing is ridiculous. This isn't complete fantasy warfare and 50 feet should be the maximum allowed size for Rex vs Amp. Still, one hit from a tail or one stomp from those massive feet and Rex is done. Even with a pack, Rex stands little chance.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
These tyrannosaurs will be at the maximum possible size. 65 ft long and 15 tons or so. Remember, a Rex that is 43-50 ft long and 7-10 tons has a bite force of up to 9 tons! Scale that up to a Rex 5-8 tons heavier, you're talking a bite force comparable to Megalodon, at 15-20 tons! That's massive. Also, keep in mind that, while Amphicoelias was really long, anywhere between 150-220 ft long, it was a diplodocid. Keeping that in mind, it probably only weighed 50-70 tons. Still massive, but a sauropod with the build of a titanosaur for example would probably weigh well over 100 tons with a length like that. All I'm saying is that, while Amphicoelias may be the longest sauropod, it may not have been as heavy as most think. Still gigantic. I think the fight would be pretty good.
*Side note- Amphicoelias probably only had a head height of about 35-40 ft, not much taller than a 20-23 ft tall Rex. And a tyrannosaurus that is 65 ft long would be even taller, 30 ft or so.
ReplyBrontosaurus>ApatosaurusDinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
I don't see how Rex could take it down. It was tall enough to easily walk over even the biggest theropods. What are the Rexes gonna do? Chew its knees off? Doubtful. They aren't small enough to climb its tail and aren't big enough to take its neck or legs off.
Replyfuturepaleontologist1Dinosaurs ForumAncient Lives:Episode 4:New WorldJul 8, 2013
Yeah, it was only about six feet but I wanted to make things a little more interesting. Unfortunately that turned out to just make Terra be an unrealistically huge Eurypterid
ReplyLord VaderDinosaurs ForumAncient Lives:Episode 4:New WorldJul 8, 2013
Hyneria.
Good story again. Pretty sure Pterygotus was only 6 feet.
ReplyLord VaderJurassic Park ForumFavourite Jurassic Park DinosaurJul 8, 2013
I didn't think that Rex had a good grip on Spino. The fight wasn't completely inaccurate, but it wasn't very accurate either. Rex would have gone for the neck and tried to bite, not headbutt Spino. Spino, and all theropods, didn't have the necessary wrist action to snap a Rex's neck the way it did. I believe Spino could beat Rex sometimes, but not that way or easily. Imagine if Rex and Spino were the same size, instead of the 20 foot length difference, 5 foot height difference, and possible 2 ton weight difference, all in Spino's favour.
Horner better not make Rex look like it was just a scavenger, and make it what it really was, a killer. What scavenger needs a 3-9 ton bite force.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
Interesting concept. Possibly the largest land animal or even the largest animal ever vs one of, if not the largest, land predator ever. Very interesting. Of course a few Rexes would go down. But if they are large enough and are big enough, they could stand a chance at bringing this sauropod down.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumAncient Lives:Episode 4:New WorldJul 8, 2013
Dunckleosteus!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great story, poor Terra, she, I presume its a she, got beaten around so much and was beached. I feel sorry for her.
ReplyDinosaur.FanaticDinosaurs ForumFight RequestJul 8, 2013
I vote yes! How about letting Amphicoelias kill off a few Rexes before it perishes?
ReplyDinosaur.FanaticJurassic Park ForumFavourite Jurassic Park DinosaurJul 8, 2013
That's cool!
You know I just watched JPIII yesterday because we were talking about it, and one of the bonus features has Jack Horner talking about all his theories about Rex being a scavenger... I just hope he doesn't screw up JP4 as the consultant.
Also, I watched the fight scene in detail, and it was not entirely inaccurate. When Rex first gets Spino's neck in his jaws, he does not have a good grip at all. His teeth are only surrounding the upper portion of the neck. This enabled Spino to jurk loose and then lunge for Rex, getting a much better grip on his neck and snapping it. This leads me to think that it wasn't necessarily bite force that Spino used, but neck muscle for twisting.

Deltadromeus vs Trike would be interesting. As long as Deltadromeus could avoid the horns it would have a good chance of taking the Trike down.

@x_paden_x.....everything they try to do to "enhance"the script just completely ruins it...the movies and the books DO NOT pair well together...jp3 was closest to the lost world in terms of chaos but the point of the lost world(which was that the dinos onsite b were all at odds w each other even the same species lacking the instinct and knowledge to survive together without complete chaos) book was completely lost on the movie...and the whole rex in the city part wasn't even in the book and was pathetic

Philosiraptor, if you have a huge T. rex, at a large pack, it can't take down even a 100 foot of the sauropod. Don't know how to spell it and too lazy to look it up. It was hard enough for the T. rex pack to take down an Alamosaurus in Rex Fan's Clash of Giants.
