I think Troodon will have more chances than any other to be the new villain in JP4. I agree with all said above.

You're improving, nice chapter. Keep it up! Also, don't want to seem bored, but how many chapters will be? I'm asking because I'm curious! :P

I really don't know what to think about Nanotyrannus. Was it a separate species? Was it a young T-rex? Mah... BTW, the fossil is surely interesting.

Can't wait to read it! It's an interesting thing that the main character will be a herbivore.
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumCeratosaurus vs Yangchuanosaurus & Daspletosaurus vs StyracosaurusOct 13, 2013
I'm not sure. I used to be against it but I couldn't imagine Tyrannosaurus taking on Triceratops, Torosaurus, the new MDD ceratopsian, Eotriceratops or even Titanoceratops one on one. The prey was way more agile, had great defense, far greater stability, had more weapons and traveled in herds. Meals would be rare if tyrannosaurs hunted alone and only killed stray members of herds, be it young, old, sick, lost or especially an old bull.

Well. I stil believe differently.

ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumThe World Beneath: Part 1Oct 12, 2013
Glad you guys liked it.
Sorry DinoFights, I personally believe Spinosaurus had a sail like the one seen in the pictures. Not to mention the fact that 99 percent of the pics show Spino with a sail, so I'd have a hard time finding a good one even if I really wanted to.
As far as speculative species go, I will say all species shown exist. Nothing made up, nothing speculated, all creatures seen have fossils found of them and are well documented. Just to keep it more realistic and a little easier to follow.

Technically, Styraco lived after Das.
Das- 75-85 mya
Styraco- 65-70 mya
Anyways, most evidence points to tyrannosaurs overall being pack hunters. Many tyrannosaurs(Albertosaurus, Yutyrannus, etc) have been found in groups consisting of different ages. Also, other large theropods did it(Allosaurus, Mapusaurus, Giganotosaurus, etc). Why not Daspletosaurus, Tarbosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus? It really only makes sense in my opinion. But hey, that's just me.

I don't know. Spielberg does not have the final say and I still can't get past the feathers.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMontana's Dueling DinosaursOct 12, 2013
Yeah. The current theory is that it's an adult NanoT, but theories change constantly.
ReplyThe forgotten kingDinosaurs ForumCould the new villain be SinosauropteryxOct 12, 2013
But remembering the game how they didn't want Troodon in the park and wanted them destroyed plus Sinornithosaurus could be nocturnal.and maybe they're will be feathers Steven Spielberg could have a trick up his sleeve
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumCeratosaurus vs Yangchuanosaurus & Daspletosaurus vs StyracosaurusOct 12, 2013
We don't know if Das hunted in packs. We know that Alberto did, but Das is more like T. rex or Tarbosaurus, and probably just lived and hunted in pairs. Also, lions and wildebeest are reverse. Wildebeest are much bigger than lions, and Das was much bigger than Ceratosaurus. I really think it should have had an easier time.
Replyx_paden_xDinosaurs ForumCould the new villain be SinosauropteryxOct 12, 2013
Nah, i dont see it-- troodon just fits in muhc better thanks to there recent mention in JPTG, it'll keep the audience on the edge of their seats--
plus its nocturnal
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumCeratosaurus vs Yangchuanosaurus & Daspletosaurus vs StyracosaurusOct 12, 2013
Yeah, but there are things that stand against that as reason. Daspletosaurus would attack in packs and ambush, likely attacking old, young, isolated, injured and/or sick members of a herd, judging by behaviors in other predators. Even then, look at a modern predator's percentage of successful hunting attempts. A lion only successfully hunts about 30% of the time, even in a group against an old wildebeest.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumCeratosaurus vs Yangchuanosaurus & Daspletosaurus vs StyracosaurusOct 12, 2013
Real life, but it I bet it would kill larger and more Ceratopcians.
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumCeratosaurus vs Yangchuanosaurus & Daspletosaurus vs StyracosaurusOct 12, 2013
Do you mean in the fight or in real life?
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumCould the new villain be SinosauropteryxOct 12, 2013
Sinornithosaurus would be an awesome villain. It's the only dinosaur with substantial evidence for venom, and that would make it kick ass .
Gliding and venomous dinosaurs would be cool, but take out the feathers and it can't glide. Not gliding would just make it a Compy with stronger venom .
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumCould the new villain be SinosauropteryxOct 12, 2013
Yes, I guess I never thought of that.
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumChapter 13Oct 12, 2013
Not bad. Not bad at all . The story is a nice one but it is a little strange that Spinosaurus (a crocodile, fish, and occasional same size or smaller dinosaur eater) would team up with Tyrannosaurus (a ceratopsian, ankylosaur, and hadrosaur eater) to kill prey that neither of them preferred... But oh well, it was entertaining.
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumMontana's Dueling DinosaursOct 12, 2013
Nothing is concrete. The fossils have been rumored to show evidence of feathers on both, the ceratopsian was rumored to have horns off and on, the ceratopsian supposedly had its head against the tyrannosaur's belly leading some to theorize that the hornless ceratopsian smashed the theropod against a cliff or something and it crumbled on then.
They haven't been examined yet and the 98% complete fossils are still up for grabs, the price being 9 million dollars. It's hoped that museums will be the top bidders so scientists can examine the bones, but private fossil owners have their eyes on the prize.
Also, while it is thought that the tyrannosaur is a 25-30 foot Nano-T, once again that is speculative as they're currently still plastered up and they haven't been examined in depth or at all , really .
ReplyDinoFightsDinosaurs ForumThe World Beneath: Part 1Oct 12, 2013
A few things.
First, I absolutely love the story and I am thrilled at what my mind has led me to expect from part 2.
Second, will there be speculative life forms in here? Like Phobodon (sad it was a hoax) or something like an armless abelisaur descended from, say, Carnotaurus?
Lastly, I don't know why, but Spinosaurus pictures of it having a sail have begun to irk me lately. I knew the depictions of it having a skin sail were wrong subconsciously but since I read an actual debate on it, it hasn't left my mind.... So therefore, I am somewhat annoyed by the Spinosaurus pictures but that's overshadowed by this epic tale! Great job!

Good Part. Can't wait for tomorrow. Led is my favourite character. Don't know why, but I picture him as a mix of Muldoon and Lenny from the The Simpsons. No fricken clue why, I just do.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumCould the new villain be SinosauropteryxOct 12, 2013
I like your thinking, to tell you the truth. I do have a few problems.
1: Sinosauropteryx can't glide
2: Sinosauroptryx isn't poisonous
3: Troodon makes a much better villan and has a catchier name
4: if it was to be a small bird dinosaur, it would be Sinornithosaurus, who has all the characteristics you described but is much smarter.
