First experiences
It has past a month since the female Balaur deposed her eggs. And she gave proof of being an excelent mom. She incubated them, she watched them, and she even saved one of them from the hands of an hungry Eleopteryx. And now, all of her work had put off: the three chicks have born healthy and normal. Only one seemed to be a little different: a smaller, weaker and younger chick. He had bright and orange eyes, while the other Balaurs had them brown and dark.
He was Brighteyes.
His parents were watching them playing under the trees. Brigheyes's siblings started to form a small group, a group that excluded their smaller brother. The small predator was alone. While his brother and sister were playing fight, he was staring at the sky. He was just amazed by the sky. He never couldn't realize why it was so far and blue. He was seeing a Hatzegoperyx flying in the sky, passing between clouds with lightness, when a dragonfly catched his attention. Brighteyes started to follow it curious and playful, hopping here and there with the intention to catch it. The dragonfly then landed on a fern. The little saw his chance: he prepared for the jump an then... nothing. Still small and inexperienced he bit the sand near the insect, that had flown away. The small Balaur shaked his head and issued a squeak.
He didn't know where he was. The way he followed had led him nowhere. Scared, he started running, but soon stumbled into a root, falling downhill, until he reached a grassy terrain. It was the Bradycnemes nest. Brighteyes could see groups of small black animals, big at least as he was. The little realized they were chicks, and realized also with gladness that their parents were not home.
A bradycneme chick, the biggest of all, walked straight to Brighteyes. The bradycneme was impressive: he still had egg shell attached all around his body, but he was already three times bigger than the others, being the size of an adult Eleopteryx. He watched the smaller Balaur, and then, with a scream, bit him on the snout pretty hard. Brigheyes moaned in pain while trying to get free. When he menaged to do that, he runned away, to the trees.

The Balaur was lost and hungry. He was walking the forest in circles from an hour, without managing to find his family. And he was really scared. The wound at the snout was pretty bad, causing a strong blood-loss.
When suddenly, he heard a familial scream: it was his mom. She was doing this when calling her babies for lunch. And the little Brighteyes heard it too well. It was comig from behind him. He started running to the sound direction, and finally got out from the thicket, finding the nest and his family. Happy, he runned straight to his mom, rubbed his snout to her's, as a greeting, and hungry, started to eat the regurgitated meat the other two were already eating. Then, satiated, he started sleeping, dreaming his little adventure and the Bradycneme chick that bit him.
