Megaraptor vs. Deinonychus

Megaraptor Novas

Length: 26 feet (8 meters)
Weight: 1 ton
Era: Late Cretaceous
Location: South America

Megaraptors are usually seen hunting fish by the river. They are one of the few species that won't be attacked by Suchomimus and the only non-Spinosaurid. But they are also fast enough to chase down most Hadrosaurus on Isla Pelea and they can certainly take those large dinosaurs out. They have muscular legs, which are not only useful for speed, but also for kicking their prey. Their jaws are not very strong, but strong enough to kill Ornithomimids and cause severe damage to the "smaller" Hadrosaurus like Tenontosaurus. Their main weapons are their huge claws, they can grow up to 14 inches in length (35 centimeters), in contrast, the claws of Spinosaurus, which was 7 times it's size, were 15 inches long (37 centimeters).

Deinonychus Antirrhopus

Length: 10 feet (3 meters)
Weight: 200 pounds (100 kg)
Era: Early Cretaceous
Location: North America

Deinonychus hunt in packs of up to 5 members. They are one of the smartest dinosaurs on the island and they are also very agile.
Dr. Wu tested their bite force personally, he measured 0.6 tons, stronger than a Hyena and on par with an average Alligator. Further research about their speed showed that they can reach 40 mph over a short distance, but prefer to run at about 30 mph when chasing after prey. Their killer-claws can be up to 4.7 inches (12 centimeters) in length and are used to cut open prey.

Fight!

A Megaraptor is silently leaning over a river. It slowly opens it's mouth and then just stands there, waiting for something. After a couple minutes a fish swims by, not noticing the large male Allosaurid, towering over it. The Megaraptor thrusts his large claw into the water and pulls out a 1.5 m long Coelacanth. He grabs it in his mouth and carries it to the shore. He throws it on the ground, slashes it's belly open and starts eating it.

Next to him is the forest. He hears something. He rears his head up, sniffs the air, waits a couple of seconds and then proceeds to eat the large Coelacanth. Suddenly something jumps out of the trees and on the back of the male. It's first reaction is to jump and buck the small dinosaur off. That is quite hard, considering that the Dromaesaurid had deeply punctured it's back. Fortunately for the Megaraptor it had missed the spinal cord and the male manages to buck him off before it can do any serious damage.

Now they stare at each other. Neither is breaking eye contact. The wound on the Megaraptors back isn't going to kill him, but it still hurts like hell. As the Megaraptor is blinking, the Deinonychus seizes his opportunity and jumps towards the male. The Megaraptor swipes at where the Deinonychus should be, but he had only faked that initial attack and now tried to jump on his back. The Megaraptor quickly saw through it's plan and swung it's tail at the Deinonychus. But the athletic raptor somehow managed to cling on to the tail.

The Deinonychus now tried to go for it's spinal cord again. The Megaraptor bucked the Deinonychus off before it could attack. They were both slightly annoyed with their opponent. The Megaraptor wasn't fast enough to do serious damage to the Deinonychus and the Deinonychus wasn't powerful enough to cause severe damage before being bucked off. The Deinonychus tried to fake another attack, but the Megaraptor was already familiar with it's plan and didn't react to the faked attack.

The Deinonychus, which was already running towards the Megaraptors side, didn't expect for the Megaraptor to see through it's attack pattern that fast. The Deinonychus was already jumping on to the side of the Megaraptor before he could finish the thought. The Megaraptor swiped at him, but the Deinonychus had luck on it's side. The largest claw of the Megaraptor had barely missed the soft belly, but his two other claws still hit point blank. The Deinonychus was breathing heavily, glad that the largest claw, which would've killed him had missed. But he was still wounded badly.

The Megaraptor saw his chance and rushed to the Deinonychus.
The smart Dromaesaur jumped up and landed on the back of his larger opponent. He raked his claws on the back of his adversary, leaving large gashes behind. The Megaraptor roared in pain and tried to buck him off. He was already too weak to do that, so he lied down and rolled over in an attempt to crush the much smaller raptor. The Deinonychus jumped off and completely avoided the attack. The Megaraptor stood up, headbutting the Deinonychus, which was trying to jump on to him again, accidentally.

The Deinonychus regained it's footing a lot faster than the Megaraptor did before and just in time to side step out of the way of a fatal charge and slash the Megaraptor on his back. The back of the squealing Megaraptor looked like a mangled mess with blood and pieces of meat everywhere. Then the Deinonychus jumped towards the Megaraptor attempting to deliver the final and decisive blow. The Megaraptor panicked and in the last second he swiped at the Deinonychus.

The dust settled down and the Megaraptor, surprised that he was still alive, looked at his claws and realised that he had hit point blank completely piercing the smaller Deinonychus His longest claw even drilled through the entire body and could be seen, reaching out of the back of the smaller animal. The Deinonychus was still alive, but he was bleeding heavily and couldn't reach the Megaraptor with his toe claw even if he wanted to. The Megaraptor started to slowly breath in a normal speed and then threw the Deinonychus on the ground as strong as he could. The Deinonychus' spinal cord was damaged and he was paralyzed, but he was still alive.

Since the Deinonychus couldn't move the Megaraptor thought that he was dead and started eating him. The last thing the Deinonychus saw was the largest claw of the Megaraptor piercing through it's entire skull. The Megaraptor ate the brain and lived to tell the tale. Soon after he met a female Megaraptor which was amazed by the many wounds the battle-worn Megaraptor had and they started a family.

Winner: Megaraptor Novas

No comments yet? That's quite something.

Good fight. Result was as expected, though I was rooting for Deinonychus.

Jack of all trades. Master of none

The drawing isn't mine. I don't think that i'm even able to draw something like that, but thanks anyway.
