Here is a rough list of the highest bite forces in the dinosaur kingdom. Forces based on a combination of actual reports and studies along with my own estimations and theories. 10. Ceratosaurus 900- 1,100 lbs per square inch 9. Suchomimus 1,000-1,400 lbs per square inch 8. Albertosaurus 1,200-1,800 lbs per square inch 7. Allosaurus 2,000-3,000 lbs per square inch 6. Ekrixinatosaurus 3,000-4,200 lbs per square inch 5. Spinosaurus 3,600-4,700 lbs per square inch 4. Daspletosaurus 4,600-5,000 lbs per square inch 3. Carcharodontosaurus 4,900-5,300 lbs per square inch 2. Giganotosaurus 5,700-6,100 lbs per square inch 1. Tyrannosaurus rex 6,800-18,000 lbs per square inch This list is not biased. It's also my opinion combined with reports and studies. Agree if you want. Disagree if you want. Please, keep all comments nice ;)

Sorry the Ceratosaurus pic did not work...

What about Tarbosaurus and Zhuchengtyrannus (~8,000-10,000 lbs psi) Torvosaurus (12,000-18,000 lbs psi) The Allosaurus hatchet chop bite (~9,000-11,000 lbs psi) Acrocanthosaurus (8,000-9,000 lbs psi) Triceratops (6,000-10,000 lbs psi) All of those would be good inclusions. Torvosaurus especially very closely rivaled T. rex in bite force.

This is a very rough list with some of the best representatives. Triceratops reminds me of the alligator snapping turtle. An animal with a high bite force, but a beak. As far as Torvosaurus goes, being an allosaurian dinosaur, it's bite force would not be extremely high. Perhaps 4,000 lbs or so. To put things in perspective, an adult human has an average bite force of only 150 lbs per square inch ;)

Megalosaur. Its skull was very mechanically efficient, something that would have translated into an extremely powerful bite.

Perhaps. Given it's overall size Megalosaurus probably had a bite force of at least 3,000 lbs per square inch, maybe 3,600. Rivaling that of a modern day alligator.

True. I think being a more evolved megalosaur Torvosaurus would have been even more powerful in bite but that hasn't been accounted for in measurements.

WOW! Spinosaurus in number five? I've seen Team Rex members put him in 10 or not even on the list. Thanks for exalting him to this position. The only thing I might change is Daspletosaurus in number 4. Just for sheer size, I think it would be a more fitting number five against Spino, taking into account that the jaw size of Daspleto is significantly smaller than Spino... but that's just me. I guess you could argue that several ways, given that it's lbs per square inch. Other than that, great list!

Thanks. I figured Spino had jaws that were weak for it's size, but still powerful. Even though my estimates put it at 56 ft and 7 tons, that's still large and any animal that big would have a somewhat strong bite. I have Das on there because, first of all it was a very large tyrannosaur(30-36 ft and 3-4.5 tons), and it was very robust. A similar build to Tyrannosaurus rex. I figured it would also have a strong bite, especially for it's size. Kinda like a bull dog compared to a husky. A fully grown husky is bigger than a bull dog, but bull dogs have very strong jaws. And Spino is not the only spinosaur on the list. Suchomimus made it on too ;)

Good list. I'm pretty sure most Taem Rex members wouldn't have even included Spino is because they don't like it at all. Those guys are the biased ones. The top three were pretty much what I expected.

Jack of all trades. Master of none

Thanks. Any dinosaurs(other than Spinosaurus) you guys did not expect to see on my list?

I didn't expect to see Suchomimus on here. So many other dinosaurs could have replaced it.

Yeah, I wanted a good variety of dinosaurs. One's people might not expect like Suchomimus, Spinosaurus, or even Ceratosaurus.

You know, I think that Yangchuanosaurus, being a lot like allosaurus as in length and a having slightly shorter, more Abelisaur like skull, would have a considerable bite force on here too. And tyranotitan. It was a lot more tyrannosaur like than the other Allosaurs. It even had thicker teeth.

I hope you mean thicker teeth than other allosaurs because the only dinosaur that had teeth thicker than a tyrannosaurs, was another tyrannosaur. I would say Yangchuanosaurus had a bite force comparable to that of Ekrixinatosaurus or Allosaurus. Tyrannotitan probably had a bite force comparable to that of Daspletosaurus or Spinosaurus.

I would think so, and I was talking about compared to other Allosaurs.

Something else, would Oxalaia have a larger bite than Cerato.

Perhaps. If it did, it would be comparable to Suchomimus.
