MemberCompsognathusJan-04-2015 2:23 PMIn the darkly lit room of a Wyoming University a man sat in his chair, staring blankly at the wall of strings and research topics infront of him, Scattered across the wall. The room gave off a feeling of Desperation-- being strewn with Coffee cups and half eaten food -- The once luxurious Dark oak Furniture and wall trimmings having been faded, Smoothed and scuffed up from years of use.
The man reclined in his chair and let out a sigh, Rubbing at his eyes with the Butt of his palms. He stood up to hear his back pop and he let out a small groan. He'd been at this for 3 days straight, Trying to contect and see the puzzle hidden infront of him. He began to walk around the room, Deep in his own thoughts.
Why not just give up?
Because that's wrong.
But they gave up on this field, why are you still searching?
Sometimes, The greatest truth is missed easily.
And what evidence supporting that do you have?
...
Exactly, Just give up now John, Go home.
I spent 26 years studying this, I'm not giving up just because some Park opened.
But whats in that park John.
...
You and I both know what's in that park, It's only a matter of time until they pull the plug on your project too.
Shut up shut up shut up.
John punched his desk in anger. His entire life study had been in Vain, It was too late to go back now. John sighed.
Ever since that Blasted park opened This fields been going Down the drain.
He had been one of the most Promising new Paleontologists when he had finally graduated. He had given up other dreams just to fufil this one, And now it was coming down on him. John walked over to his calander on the wall, He flipped the page over.
2006...
John reclined in his chair that had been Repositioned behind his desk, It had been 2 years since the park opened. When it had opened, It was believed that Paleontology could continue on, With the understanding that these "Imitation dinosaurs" would bring up a field of study all it's own. How wrong they were. The Dinosaurs attracted people from as far away as Russia, And all these tourists believed them to be real.
Paleontology had fought well trying to explain that this was untrue, they weren't "Real dinosaurs" But the more they pleaded, The more Oblivious people became. It spelled Doom for the field before anyone knew it.
John got up from his chair, And walked to the door. Some of the big Paleontologists, Like Jack Horner and Robert Bakker had Been against it, But with a big enough cheque, you can make anyone silent.
Others, Would not fall into this Trap, Some being Alan grant, Sarah Harding, And Jessica Harding. John was one of the poor bastards who decided to not be bought out.
John had come to know the Three fairly well. They often Co-jointed expeditions to go and study out in the field. It was great to Be in the field with other Great paleontologists, But, The Circumstances for it, were horrible.
Backers had started pulling out of funding, The only way of getting funding was to Co-joint in a group.
Which is where John was now. John twisted the Bronzed door handle, and quickly exited his office. He needed to sleep, But he needed to figure out his Project first.
As john began walking in a hypnotic state, he walked into a wall. The university of Wyoming was Kind enough to give them some sort of Sanctuary, Some older offices in one of their many wings. John started to pick himself up when a feminine hand appeared infront of him. John took the hand that assisted in hauling him up.
"Listen, I understand that you enjoy walls, But you don't need to run into each on you see John," Jessica said.
John chuckled Akwardly, He didn't intentionally walk into the wall, But it was always nice when Jessi talked to him.
"Made any breakthrought with your Project?" she asked, Crashing his train of thought
"Some. It's not a lot. Coffee doesn't work anymore."He replied Making a gesture to the Break room "Has alan came back from the dig site yet?"
"No not yet, Him and Sarah are out with the truck, They said they'd found a new promising find."
"You and your sister had another Fight again, Eh?"
"Something like that, Oh, by the way, Dr. Malcolm is supposed to stop by today, He called me because you wouldn't answer you phone," Jess pointed at the Conference table that was in the middle of the large hallway with a large World map, North america map, And Bad lands map. Aswell as a cork board covered in Important notes and dates.
"Good, I need to speak to him about this park, Somethings... Off..."
"I can only imagine how many problems there will be with that park," Jess replied with a slight guffa, Recalling when herself and Her dad had been stuck there, "If you do think of anything Really great my father decided to step in as the Park vet again."
John had met Gerry on more then one occaison, He'd come to regard him as a friend. John had made himself a place in the field before the park opened with rethinking Dinosaur Anatomy and Intelligence. This is also how he had met sarah, Who had been well known for those areas in her career.
Gerry sometimes came by, They'd go out and get drinks with Alan at one of the local pubs.
Alan Grant was an Interesting man. He had spear headed this project and had become one of the worlds Best known paleontologists. He also ran a large amount of dig sites. Alan had been to the islands twice, and wouldn't take no for an answer. Alan was also a Kind man, With mutliple contacts within the Paleontology field.
John had come to regard the team as friends rather then colleagues.
As jess was about to tell john something, The door swung open, and in walked Billy brennan.
"Hey guys, Alan and Sarah just found something, Huge! They want us down there, Now." Billy said, Picking up the rifle that hung overtop of the door.
"Well, Why are we wasting time, Get in the truck!" Jess yelled as we all ran out the door, I quickly locked it and set the keys back in the right toe claw of the Bronze Velociraptor Skeleton beside the enterance.
They jumped into the dusty truck billy had driven up in and they toar down the road.
*
John jumped out into the Wyoming dirt, His Cowboy boots already showered in dust from years in the field. John hadn't had time to change, He was still in his moderately formal work clothes, A western shirt with a pair of Crisp wranglers. He had a tie at one point.
John began rushing over to a hill where Alan and Sarah looked over a chart. Jess and Billy in tow.
When Alan spotted them, he Raised his hands in a Stop motion, His faced screamed Urgency.
The trio heeded his warning, and approached slowly.
When the crested the hill, They looked on in shock.
Right there, In this valley, sat something that shouldn't have been there, That should NEVER, have been there.
Billy slowly reached for the rifle.

Authors Notes
Hey howdy hey Folks.
You might be wondering
"What did I just read"
Well.
I'm not sure, Read it again.
I just write.
So... In about a Month or So, I will have been on the forum for 2 whole years.
2 WHOLE YEARS
That's either a HUGE acomplishment or a Sign I need a better social life!
Joking aside.
730 days on a forum is pretty damn impressive.
To celebrate, I've decided I'll Finish Jurassic Apocalypse, and then, Finish this series.
I plan to Update Project Codex on a Weekly basis. Or something. I'll try and keep this posted on my site As to manage it, Aswell as on here.
The main idea behind this was that "What happens to Paleontology after the park?" I'm kinda portraying what Grant Predicted in the first movie.
I'm attempting to include AS many Cannon characters from the Novels and games As I can... So expect Tim and lex to maybe make an Appearance with Kelly.
If you have any other major questions, Feel free to ask them.
In other news.
It snowed again in canada.
Yay.
Like no really... The Red areas are where Storm alerts have been Issued.
I hope you all enjoyed your holidays, I've been Reviewing and reading some of the Entries, Most are Impressive.
I tried out a new writing style with this after getting a bunch of Critiques from my language teacher in one of my projects. It's mostly promident in the beggining, and kinda disapears midway through.
That's all I got, Hope you all can re-stabilize yourself after the holidays with school and work.

Looking forward to Jurassic Apocalypse.
Speaking of two year anniversaries, mine's coming up in March, so not too close, but close. I'll have something at the ready for that.

Something Real
MemberTyrannosaurus RexJan-04-2015 4:40 PMX_PADEN_X - That was exceptionally well written and exceedingly fun to read! The concepts you have couched within your plot were thought provoking and beyond the norm of what is typically seen with regards to the Jurassic Park topic! As such, I found this to be one of my absolute favorite pieces of Jurrasic Park fan fiction! Please continue this wonderful work! Thank you ever so much for taking the time to produce and present this to us! :)

MemberTriceratopsJan-04-2015 5:32 PMPaden, I truly believe that this story of yours is in the upper echelon of all JP fan fiction, and definitely the best I have read since I got on here. It is really deep and thought-provoking so far, and I know that you will keep raising the bar in terms of quality. It really blew me away, so much so that I felt I was reading a Michael Crichton novel that he would have written long after The Lost World (if he chose to, and if he was still alive).

MemberCompsognathusJan-04-2015 6:22 PMThanks for the encouraging words guys!
I do also want to point out it's not for a month, But thanks regardless, 2 Years is kinda a big thing.
Something I want to do in my third year on the forum is help new writers out.
@Mr.Happy9097
I'm eager to see what you've got in store... We've also got an FBR Anniversary or something coming up too... Somewhere... Maybe we should look into what we're gonna cook up for that, Eh?
@Tyrant-King
Unfortunatley, I don't comment as Frequently as I once did, But I must give you an Applause, That's a good acheivement. (someones got like 3000+ posts on one of the forums, I think It might be Chris, but I'm not sure)
@Sci-Fi King25
I look foreward to it man. I forget if I extended a Congradulations on one year or not, So, Congrats on a year and like, a half now! *Claps*
@Gojira2k
14 Months is still impressive.
@JPCERATO
I'm getting a feeling of continuing this writing style a little. Thanks for the Congrats. I've been motivated to right a new chapter friday or earlier (As school will dictate with homework)
@Something-Real
If there's something I look for in a post, It's your comments S-R, They're always nice. Thanks for the Positive feedback its greatly appreciated. All fan works are great labors of love, I stuns me a little at how much effort is put into the fandom.
@Alphadino65
Thanks! That's really kind of you to say that. I Suppose I'll move on more with this writing style perhaps. Michael Crichton has been one of my favourite authors, you can just absorb yourself into his writings. I come nothing close to him, But I like that someone felt that from one of my works... Thanks, I means a lot.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Authors usually use this to gauge there work and connect with someone outside of their head. keep in mind whenever you read something, that It means a whole lot to the authors or groups behind the post when you reply.
Thanks, I'm really pumped for this next chapter, Expect these to be on my Site too, Expect a Friday update.

MemberCompsognathusJan-04-2015 9:06 PMThat was an interesting read, my one concern with jurassic park has always been what would happen to paleontology after the park opened. Also very nice writeing aside from a few vocabulary misstakes, I dont see many problems with the writeing (seriously dont take my advice, Im the last person you should listen to when it comes to written english).
