Here is my entry for Paden's Dinosaur Writer's Challenge. I hope you guys like it:

“Ah, Christmas, may favorite time of the year.” Claire was decorating the large Christmas in the center of the Visitors Center. It was a few days before Christmas Day. “Jingle Bell Rock” was playing on the overcom, one of Claire’s personal favorites. The entire Visitors Center was covered in Christmas decorations. Giant streamers of green and red hung from the walls and the ceilings. Ornaments hung from streamers as well as ribbons. The Christmas tree in the center was 25 ft tall. Tons of ornanments hung from every branch. Large ribbons wrap the tree. And to top it off, a giant star placed at the top of the tree. In was truly Christmas in Jurassic World.

“It maybe your’s, but it’s not mine.” Hamada said. “I could see that. Your pretty much our version of Scrooge,” Owen said. “Bah Humbug,” Hamada said sarcastically. “I’m going to check the security cameras.” “Wait I’ll come with you,” Claire said picking up a box of decorations. “That room needs more decorating anyway.” “Fine,” Hamada said.

They walked to the Security Room. When they got there Claire set down a box and started to hang up some Christmas ribbon. Hamada sat down at one of the computer monitors. He scanned the each camera feeds, watching the sleeping dinosaurs, or the watching the sea reptiles swimming in their aquariums. After he finished with one monitor, he went to the next one, and did the same. Claire had finished hanging the ribbons up and started decorating them with ornaments. Hamada got to the last monitor and started scanning it too, when he saw something unusual. He maximized one of the camera feeds and looked closer. “We have a problem,” Hamada said.

“What?” Claire said approaching the desk. “I can’t see one of the dinosaurs,” Hamada said. “Which one?” Claire said.”The Microceratus,” Hamada said. “But you don’t usually see them right?” Claire said. “No, The always stay in the open, hundled together for warmth to sleep, but I don’t see a single one. And that’s got me worried.” Hamada replied, “I’m going to check it out.” “Here, I’ll come with you.” Claire said. “Why?” Hamada said. “Because, I like seeing them. Plus, we have a huge herd of them. You’re going to need all the help you can get,” Claire answered. “Alright, but we have to get Owen. We’ll need his help too.”

They walked back to the Visitors Center. “Owen , get over here!” Hamada said. “Yeah?” Owen said. “I think the Microceratus have escaped from their pen,” Hamada said. “What do you need?” Owen said. “Grab your tranq gun. If they have escaped we might need to tranq them so we can get them back into their enclosure,” Hamada said. “Okay, I’ll go get it. As he went to go get his gun Hamada and Claire headed out to the enclosure.

They walked out of the Vistor’s Center, into the night air. They walked over to the vehicle shed. Hamada opened the shed door. He walked off to the side and got the keys, while Claire got in a Jeep. Hamada came back with a pair of keys and two Walkie Talkies. He place one key in another Jeep along with a Walkie Talkie. Claire gave Hamada a wondering. “For Owen,” he said.

They drove to the Microceratus enclosure. Claire and Hamada got out and Claire started looking around the enclosure walls. Hamada went to the feeding entrance to take look inside. Just then Owen pulled up in the other Jeep. He hopped out and looked around the other side of the enclosure.

Claire was about the turn around and go back to the Jeep when she heard Owen yelling. “Hey guys, I found something.” She run over to where he was standing. There was a giant hole ripped at the enclosure fence. Hamada and Owen were investigating when she got there.

“I was right, they have escaped,” Hamada said. Owen walked away when he said this. “Where could they have gone?” Claire said. “I have no idea. That’s why I brought-“ Hamada said. He looked around and Owen was gone. “Owen? Owen!” Claire said. “Hey, I’m over here! I found tracks,” Owen said. “Where do they lead?” Hamada said. “To the Visitors Center,” Owen said.

Claire, Owen, and Hamada, ran back to the jeeps. They raced down to the Visitors Center. They pushed the doors openand saw that the tree and the decorations were trashed. The Microceratus’s were toying with everything. Throwing the ornaments around, playing tug-of-war with ribbons jumping on the trees and the rafters. Everything was trashed.

When they walked in all the Microceratus all looked up. They all froze. Suddenly they all ran out of the Visitors Center, pushing Owen, Claire and Hamada out of the way. They all looked at each other . “Quick, after them!” Owen said.

The whole herd was running back into the forest, disappearing. “We need something to lure them in. Any suggestions?” Owen said. “ Well, they seem to like the Christmas decorations. We could decorate their enclosure,” Claire said. “Well that’s pretty much the only good idea we have,” Owen said, “Claire go get all the decorations we have left, Hamada, me and you will go and build a new fence section so that we cancontain them,” Owen said.

Claire got in a Jeep and drove to the Visitors Center and got the decorations. She drove back to the enclosure, Owen and Hamada already had a section built so that they trap them and keep them in. Claire went through the Feeding Entrance and started setting up the decorations. “Owen, Hamada is that fence done yet?” Claire said. “Finished! Just need to get them back in their enclosure,” Hamada said. “Now just to add some lights!” Claire said. She plugged in the lights and tons of light flooded the enclosure. A few miles away the Microceratus looked up to see multi-colored lights. They all got up and ran towards their enclosure.

Owen started to feel a rumble. He looked up to see the whole herd of Microceratus running towards them. “Hide!” Owen called. Hamada, Owen, and Claire hid behind the fence section. All the Microceratus flooded into the enclosure. After the last one ran in the put the fence section back in place. They welded the section back into place keeping the Microceratus from getting out again.

”Well that wasn’t too bad,”Claire said. “No, no it wasn’t. Still hating this time of the year?” Owen said to Hamada. “Yes,” Hamada replied. “I guess some people never change,” Claire said as they headed back to the Jeeps. “I’m just wondering how we are going to clean up the Visitors Center,” Claire said.

A few miles away, deep in the forest was a lone Microceratus, playing the Christmas Tree Star.
