Chapter 14

An Eye For An Eye

Star gives a deafening roar that drowns out even the storm. Star is overcome with rage and Redeye wants to finish what he started. He turns away from Vega and faces Star. Redeye gives a terrifying roar. One way or another, this fight will end in death. Star roars loudly and charges.

Redeye braces for the impact and is able to meet that charge. Star begins to shove Redeye back, but the giant Z-Tyrannus does not give much ground. He pushes back and shoves Star to the ground. As Redeye closes in, he feels a horrible pain in his left leg. He looks to see Vega slashing his leg open with his jaws. Redeye turns on the Alectrosaurus, but Vega is too quick and leaps out of the way. This has given Star the chance to get back up and in the fight. He leaps at Redeye and bites down on his left thigh. He's hoping that, after Vega's assault on the same leg, he might be able to bring Redeye down by taking out his leg. But Redeye will not go down so easily. He whirls around and clamps down on Star's back. Star roars in pain and Vega leaps onto Redeye's back in order to help his friend. Redeye lets go and shakes his body, throwing Vega off.

Then, without warning, a loud shriek calls out. The three fighters all look to see Sickle and the raptor gang surrounding them. They know what this means. If someone goes down, they will have to deal with dozens of teeth and claws. Redeye attacks Star by slamming his head into the Tarbosaurus. Star staggers back with a few broken ribs. Redeye follows through and swipes Stars chest with his claws. Star falls back and looks to see the star on his chest now has three slashes running across it. Redeye then turns and charges at Vega. However, Vega manages to sidestep and slashes Redeye's left leg again. Redeye kicks out and catches Vega in the lower jaw with his claws. Vega is sent flying ten yards away, but he gets back up. As Redeye charges in to finish of Vega, Star leaps into action. He clamps down onto the back of Redeye's neck with bone crushing force. Redeye struggles, but his left leg is giving out. Then, with a quick jerk of the head, Star slashes Redeye's spinal cord. Redeye falls to the ground, paralyzed. He can't move, but he's still alive.

The raptors perk up at the sight of this. The look Star gives Redeye tells him, "Now you will be buried alive just like my parents." Then he and Vega walk off to leave Redeye to his fate. As thunder booms and lighting strikes, Sickle gives the battle cry and the raptors rush in and attack. Redeye screams in pain, but he can't fight back. Vega and Star move off without a backward glance as Redeye's cries of pain fill the air. Then, all is silent.

As the two friends leave the desolate forest behind, the turn one last time and look back. Lightning strikes a tree and the forest immediately is engulfed in flames. Star and Vega take a step back, but don’t leave. This is the final straw. Star sits back and watches as Redeye’s home is destroyed. Star has accomplished what he vowed to do all those years ago. His family is avenged and everything can now be at peace. The flames grow stronger and brighter. Star is not bothered by the brightness and as the forest burns, the flames reflect in his eyes. Gradually, the forest is enveloped in smoke and fire.

Epilogue

A New Land

As the sun sets, Star and Vega find themselves at the edge of a massive land bridge. It extends from Asia to North America. Star and Vega exchange glances for a moment, then look back to the bridge. Together, the roar out at this new land. Then, the pair starts to make its way across the land bridge. One day, another fight to survive will take place here. One that will be reminiscent of Star’s fight to survive a world away.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed this story. I prefered the original, but I'm pleased with how this one turned out. Now then, allow me to tell you my idea for the next story. In the next story, we'll travel back to North America and visit one of our favorite characters.
