A life in hell creek-chapter 1

welcome to the first chapter (excluding the prologue) of a life in hell creek it is a big improvement since my previous story; hope you like. story: 3 weeks later and the eggs are hatching; “Celeste†an unusually large female hatches first. She struggles to get up on her feet and slowly opens her eyes trying to cope with bright light and sunny environment, yet her parents are nowhere to be seen. 30 minutes her brother “Black Beauty†(named for his... unusually dark iridescent coat of feathers) has just hatched, she slowly approaches him, curiously. He is arguably smaller than she is, but is much more agile. they are sleeping together under the shade of a nearby tree. Suddenly they feel they earth vibrating they instantly realize that something big is heading towards them, they quickly hide in the hollow log, and they snuggle together in fear. They look outside the log to see a piece of meat dropping, they do not know what this is. Suddenly something picks up the tree and holds upside down. They cry for help, and fall from the log and see their parents returning from a hunt; both Sue and Stan gently nudge the pair in order to comfort them; who in turn nudge back. Sue takes a bite from the meat she brought and looks at them, as a sign that it is safe to eat, for the first time in her life Celeste is ….eating. a few days later and they are now starting to play-fight (which will help them in the future) while their parents are sleeping. They start biting and slashing at each other in a strange way in which Black Beauty hides in the trees and lures Sue to him but turns around at the last moment in order to bite her, while she tries to hold on to his neck, lift him up in the air and then drops in order to shock him, a very ingenious way to kill prey. A few hours later, they wander off a little bit until they hear a blood curdling roar which freezes them in fear. They head towards a hollow tree, Celeste peeks outside to see what it is; only to get even more frightened; it is a large 7 meter long Nanotyrannus capable of ripping them to shreds. They are silent trying not to attract its attention, yet Black Beauty wants to sneeze, he holds it in as much as he can, but eventually has to sneeze, attracting the Nano’s attention, he heads towards the tree slowly putting foot after foot cautiously in a careful way, then quickly peeks into the tree. He instantly sees them, he quickly leans back, snaps his jaw and growls in order to establish his dominance; he jumps 14 feet in the air and opens his jaws widely, they close their eyes expecting to die any moment. But they feel nothing; they slowly open their eyes to see their dad Stan holding the Nano’s carcass in his jaws. They also see their mom Sue who puts them in her jaws and take them back to the nest. She stares at Stan like she was saying “we have got to keep an eye on themâ€.
