Welcome to the last day of the normal Clash of Similarities season. Sorry about the very late post, too busy to do much writing yesterday. Today we have two dinosaurs that really aren't similar in the slightest besides the fact that they have a crest. Lets meet the contestants now shall we? Monolophosaurus was an early-middle jurassic Allosaur from China. The most salient (stick out like a Spinosaurus sail) feature is its large crest on its head, and unlike Dilophosaurus, this crest is thick. Dilophosaurus was wrongly portrayed by Jurassic Park as a venom spitting dinosaur, and small too, but is know to be juveniles. I do think Dilophosaurus was venomous, and had poison stored in its two hollow crests. Then when it bites down, it can inject venom through its teeth. It was the apex predator of early jurassic China. Fight! A pack of Dilophosaurus have just taken down an adult Yunnanosaurus, and are feasting. From the side, a Monolophosaurus is watching the pack, waiting for an opportunity to run in a grab a quick meal. He finally sees what he was hoping for. The pack moves off to go get a drink of water, leaving the carcass unattended. The Monolophosaurus goes in cautiously. He was in large bushes, but now is in plain view in the clearing where the Dilophosaurus were. He knows that he is no match for even one Dilophosaurus, let alone an entire pack. After a few cautious steps, he runs in and then feels something under his foot, and then hears a yelp. The Monolophosaurus realizes that he is standing on a tail that leads into the bushes. He gets off the tail, and finds himself looking at a young Dilophosaurus around 12 feet long. The Dilophosaurus was taking a nap in the bushes, but now stands up and turns to look at the Monolophosaurus. The Monolophosaurus is suprised, but doesn't see the young one as much as a threat. That is until, the Dilophosaurus extends his frill and spits venom, as potent as its parents at the Monolophosaurus. The Monolophosaurus is suprised, and scared, and then is hit by the poison. It spattered against his face, barely missing his eyes. The Monolophosaurus roars in both pain, for the venom contains acid and some got up hit nose, and frustration. It wants to kill the Dilophosaurus, and charges in. The Dilophosaurus spits again, and this time it hits an eye, blinding that eye. The Monolophosaurus decides that the Dilophosaurus is too dangerous as a poison spitter, and runs away, plotting revenge. A few years later, that same Dilophosaurus has been kicked out of his pack, but still managed to kill a Yunnanosaurus. He ambushed it, and his poison has run out. He is peacefully eating it, unaware of the fact that he is being watched. The Monolophosaurus has been following this very Dilophosaurus, waiting for the right time to get his revenge. It has taken a lot of patience, but he has now found the right moment. The Dilophosaurus has three very deep gashes, and a limp from a broken leg bone. Both of these I injuries causes by the Yunnanosaurus. The Monolophosaurus runs in head first, and slams his crest into the unsuspecting Dilophosaurus. The Dilo gives a surprised yelp before he is knocked over. Seeing the Monolophosaurus, a memory sparks. He recognizes the unmistakeable mark of long term Dilophosaurus poison injuries. Basically, his spit. Each individual Dilo leaves a different mark, and it tells other Dilophosaurus that one of them was already here. The Dilo is an adult now, and can't spit venom or extend a frill, but his bite is still as venomous as before. The Dilo is on the ground with the Monolophosaurus over it. Th Mono leans down to rip open the Dilo's belly with his jaws, but the Dilophosaurus strikes out with his long arms. The Dilo's claws cut deep into the snout of the Monolophosaurus. The Mono backs up, and turns around and runs away. A couple months later, the Dilophosaurus is looking for a mate. He has bright red crests, and is uttering a mating call. He finally gets a response, and they start to home in on each other. From the bushes watches the Monolophosaurus. Just at the right moment, before the Dilo calls, he lunges forwards and tackles the Dilophosaurus. The Monolophosaurus tears into the Dilo's side with his teeth and hand claws, then runs away before the Dilophosaurus even realizes what just happened. A few months later. The Monolophosaurus is once again watching the Dilophosaurus, but this time, the Dilo has a mate and eggs. The Monolophosaurus is patient, and waits for the Dilos to go too sleep. He then runs in and clamps his jaws around the Dilophosaurus's neck. The Dilo is woken up by this and screams in pain, waking up his mate. The female Dilo runs over to the Monolophosaurus and is about to bite down on it when the Mono lets go of the male Dilophosaurus and headbutts the female. The male Dilophosaurus is furious. The Monolophosaurus has been a plague to his life, and now he threatens his family. The Dilophosaurus will not stand for that, and lunges at the Monolophosaurus's neck. He gets the Mono's neck in his jaws and injects every ounce of position he has. The Monolophosaurus struggles to get free, and finally does. The Mono starts to run away, but the Dilo is not finished with him yet. In one great leap, the Dilo jumps onto the back of the Monolophosaurus and dives his front and hind claws into him. Then bites down on its neck and tears at it. The poison sinks in now, and the Monolophosaurus is now dead. The Dilo feasts off the carcass, and after he is done, goes over to sleep, recovering from a life of that Monolophosaurus. And the winner is..... Dilophosaurus! It was overall bigger, faster, and it has poison. That alone is enough to take down fairly large prey. Next on Clash of Similarities. A tribute to the winners, and the Bonus fight. That's coming later today, so stay tuned for the final... Clash of Similarities!

Dilo was not just the apex predator of China. It lived in N. America too. Good fight though.

I guess if forgot to add that in. It took place in China, so that's really the only info you need. The people here know about this anyways, so I'm just stating the obvious.

I guess that's really all that matters in the end.

I think the end result was right because Dilophosaurus had pretty much every advantage possible: speed, size, bite and power. Great fight!

And I gave it the JP poison. The death bells were ringing ever since the Monolophosaurus met the Dilophosaurus.

I wonder if Dilophosaurus did have poison? It's entirely possible judging by tooth and jaw shape.
