Clash of Similarities Day 4: Dromeaosaurus abertenis vs Velociraptor monogolieni

Welcome to day four of Clash of Similarities. This stars two very smart, and small dinosaurs, the raptors. Without further adue, lets meet the contestants. Velociraptor is the dinosaur equivalent of an actress. It was much smaller in real life, but still as deadly. They are 6 feet long and 40 pounds. It was fast, up to 45 mph. The toe had a large 3 inch claw that is used for killing its prey. From late Cretaceous Mongolia, this dinosaur lived in the desert with the terrifying Tarbosaurus. It is 6-7 feet long, and up 45-50 pounds. It also ran up to 45 mph, and was a dangerous pack hunter. It could take down even one of the largest hadrosaurs, Edmontosaurus. It was a late Cretaceous neighbor of T. rex. [img]http://ok-cleek.com/images/dromaeosaurus_original.jpg[/img] Fight! On Isla Sorna, a lone Dromeaosaurus wander through the woods. His pack was killed by an Allosaurus when they tried to defend their kill. A Velociraptor is hunting. She has been alone since his parents where killed when he was still young. She looks around the woods she is in. After some searching, she finds a Dryosaurus. She runs at it and jumps into its back. The Dryosaurus lets out a scream and runs around. The Dromeaosaurus hears the scream and goes running to investigate. It sees the situation, and goes in to help with the kill. It, with the Velociraptor jump are on the Dryosaurus's back and driving their long claws into it. Eventually the herbivore falls out of blood loss. The two raptors make a temporary truce, and eat in peace. The two raptors stay around the kill until the next day. The raptors are hungry, but they then see that there is only enough meat to satisfy one raptor. The Dromeaosaurus roars at the Velociraptor, but the Velociraptor roars back. Neither backs down. The Velociraptor runs in and bites the Dromeaosaurus's neck. The Dromeaosaurus slashes at the Velociraptor, causing it to let go. The Velociraptor and the Dromeaosaurus stare at each other. Then the Dromeaosaurus runs at the Velociraptor and starts slashing at it with is hand claws. The Velociraptor also starts to slash at the Dromeaosaurus. The Velociraptor is injuring the Dromeaosaurus, and the Dromeaosaurus is causing wounds in the Velociraptor. The Dromeaosaurus back up, and starts calling for help, hoping something will hear him. Seeing this, the Velociraptor does the same, and soon reinforcements come. Two Velociraptor, a male and female, and a female Dromeaosaurus come to aid in the battle. Both Dromeaosaurus run towards the new female Velociraptor and viciously claw at it. That Velociraptor is quickly subdued and killed. Even though they had just met, the first Velociraptor gets mad and wants to avenge the death of its new pack mate. So does the male V raptor. They run screaming at the Dromeaosaurus, who scream back. The Dromeaosaurus are running now, and they collide in a head on collision. Many bones are broken, and it has become an all out frenzy. The male Dromeaosaurus lashes out with his claws and hits the male Velociraptor. The female Dromeaosaurus feels the claws of the male Velociraptor rake across her side, and she turns to slash at him. The female Velociraptor attacks the male Dromeaosaurus and claws at him. The male Velociraptor bites the female Dromeaosaurus as she tries to claw at him. This is all happening in mere seconds and all the raptors are staying in a small space. The battle continues on like this. Slashing, biting, and trying to dodge each other. Finally, they hear something. The raptors freeze, not moving, not even breathing. Then they see it. A large family pack of five Utahraptor is on the island, and it has become a raptor fest. The smaller raptors are still frozen to the spot when the alpha female Utahraptor roars at them to scram. They do as they are told, and run away at top speed. The Utahraptor go to eat whatever is left of the Dryosaurus. With their meal gone, the Velociraptor and Dromeaosaurus split up, not wanting to fight any more. A couple days later, the two Dromeaosaurus have becomes a couple, and are looking for a good territory for the next generation. They find a great spot in a clearing, but are not the only ones who found it. The same Velociraptors from before have become a pair and are looking for a good nesting area too. The female Velociraptor roars at the Dromeaosaurus, who aren't going to back down, and roar back. They all run in and become a fighting frenzy. Clawing, biting, and dodging, just like a week ago. Then the female Velociraptor slams into the male Dromeaosaurus and knocks him over. She then slashes his throat open with her toe claw while he is on the ground. That death doesn't make a sound, unlike when the male Dromeaosaurus guts the female Velociraptor with his claws. The two enemies then look at each other, and then at their dead mates. The two raptors scream, and jump at the same time. Time seems to slow down as they approach in mid air. The Velociraptor and the Dromeaosaurus kick out with their leg, and then collide. Everything goes black. The Dromeaosaurus wakes up to find himself in great pain, but it is all around his body, from broken bones. He looks around to see the Velociraptor in a very different situation. It is dead. It kicked out, but missed the Dromeaosaurus, while the Dromeaosaurus's toe claw hit him square in the chest, and kept going in until it punctured the heart. The Dromeaosaurus feels sad at the death of his foe, but more so at the death f his mate. He gets up, and wanders on, looking for a new mate, and he will always remember this fight. The winner is.... Dromeaosaurus! It was a flip of a coin really. They where nearly identical, but Dromeaosaurus was a bit heavier and more robust. By a little. Next on Clash of Similarities. Dilophosaurus was the apex predator of early Jurassic China and North America. Its crest stood out from the rest of its head. However, this dinosaur isn't the only one with a crest.
