MattJurassic World ForumThe Analysis of What Could Have Been the 3rd Jurassic Park Book

Well, there is one thing that makes me think that dinosaurs got off of Isla Sorna, and that is Dx. If you remember the conversation from the beginning of TLW novel?

"The Epidemiologists have been tracking some weird type of Encephalitis that seems to be on the increase...along the coast" (Marty)

"All the epidemiologists know is that is seems to affect primarily rural farmers: People who are around animals and livestock. And its a true encephalitis-splitting headaches, mental confusion, fever, delirium" (Marty)

"Seems to be self limited, lasts about three weeks" (Marty)

"You think that the encephalitis is related to these uh...aberrant forms?" (Levine)

"Lizards carry lots of viral diseases, they're a known vector" (Marty)

Then compare this with what happens to Levine at the end of the novel:

(Levine)-"One of the compys bit me." "I wouldn't worry, there may be a mild encephalitis but its usually just a headache" (Harding) "It takes a week Richard you'll be fine."

I think it is pretty good evidence that some Dx might have been on the mainland by the time of TLW when the park was already destroyed for four years already.  Would throw an interesting twist if there was Dx on the mainland, and it would seem to imply Sorna animals reached the mainland.

The thing is, if you remember from the Lost World, the raptors weren't thriving due to behavior. If you remember the raptors from the first book were caring and well-organized. They even called each other for help, in a clever way, unlike the 3rd movie. The reason why is because they were sort of trained to behave and not attack one another, but in TLW they were let loose and had no control, and they're described as always attacking one another, even attacking the infants. They al had scars and their pack hunting failed most of the time due to them fighting with each other, which I found quite interesting. The T-Rexes were able to breed on Sorna, but had poor diet. They were given worse problems due to Hammond deciding to just let them loose, because they couldn't get them to live in incubators, so Hammond let Natural Selection take place, meaning the STrongest will Survive.

I'm not arguing, I honestly think people need to calm down, we had a SPinosaur thread that had 150 replies with no fighting, but people still were worried about a fight.

This is a welcome bakc thread, so I'll stop commenting unless I need to comment.

Yes there probably were a lot of raptors getting off the islands. I think it was a lucky accident Lex saw the raptors on the ship in the boat in the first place. I can only imagine how many animals got off before that, probably these animals that were part of the breeding stock actually. Plus there was also Isla Sorna, which apparently had even worse problems controlling breeding then Isla Nublar... given that the Rexes on Sorna were capable of breeding. So i would sasy that animals may have managed to get off both islands. Especially Sorna where the animals were let loose in the jungles with radio tags with the intention of retrieving later. But any animals born would not have radio tags nor would the staff be able to efficiently monitor breeding if any took place.

People like Rex Fan, Mr. Happy, and DinoSteve who have been here for almost 2 years and actually know the validated history of the forums. And I'm not lecturing, I'm just saying.

I'm not mad but, I don't think you should be lecturing people, when you don't the authority.

Also Who decides whether their "world wars" or "cold wars".

Hipho, I'm just saying that people think there's been 7 wars, but there has been only one, 2 cold wars, just asking to get your facts straight, no reason to get mad.

Raptor, if that was directed to me, your wrong. I'm not "new member". I've been here for over 3 months and have almost 1000 posts...

And even if I was a "new member" what authority do you have? So what you've been here longer, that doesn't give you the right to tell people what they can and can't say.

UCMP, you only missed one cold war, no offense to the nwe members, but don't really say what you think on wars. There was only one, and 2 cold wars.

Riders is the new thing I started, where basically all of the regulars are going to fight to the death while riding dinosaurs. The entries for it close tonight, if you want to join:

I call them FIght of the Ages.

The first one is here:

I also did a lot of spoof posts. SOme others did cool posts, too.

I already noticed that I missed something called the King and pretty much missed something called Riders which upsets me because it sounds pretty darn epic. And that's how far I've gotten. If I think about all the stuff I have to catch up on I might start going insane.

Nice, that some pretty badass idea's, this is what i would do :

first i saved myself first by throw a grappling hook, than stuck the grenade on a chicken breasts, the deino couldn't smell it because of the grenade are covered by the smell of the chicken, the deino approaches and boom, then i pulled myself with the rope, and laughed at the one that stucked and shoot it with my FN, takes out the feathers from the dead, than walks home safely and eat my other breasts

Well, looks like I'm late to the party. Anyway, I highly doubt a daspletosaurus could get to the neck of a therizino for a multitude of reasons, the main one being perfectly displayed in these pictures:

As you can see, little das was just tall enough to try and bit therizinosaurus in the chest, and immediately get decapitated.

Now, onto the effectiveness of its claws...

Sure, in this picture they look rather thin and ineffective for self-defense... But this is just a picture. Let's look at the real claws:

Well now, that's a heck of a lot thicker. Plus, as was mentioned earlier, these would be covered in keratin, making them even stonger than they already are. So, as I have demonstrated, these things should not be taken lightly.

Now, onto daspletosaurus, was it really equipped to take on therizinosaurs? Yes! But not any nearly as large as therizinosaurus. The closest thing to a therizinosaurus that das may have encountered is nothronychus, but it is only a fraction of the size of therizinosaurus (3-3.6m tall and 4.5-6m long compared to theri's 5-6m tall and 9-10m long), and with far less dangerous claws.

So, taking this into account, 75-25 in favor of therizinosaurus.

The Biomechanics of Therizinosaurs haven't really been studied, but basic laws of physics show us that once an object is in motion, it stends to stay in motion. But, As HHP pointed out, a Therizinosaurus probably isn't going to swing unless it's certain it will hit its target. Something like that, colliding with an animal half its size, is going to do some considerably damage, if not kill the animal outright. Something some peopld don't seem to grrasp very well

I'm sure it would be easy as i think because it was made to withstand that kind off stress on his arm.

And it won't be as easy as you think.

Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumCretaceous Carnage #6

If you are 40 feet long 16 feet tall and a couple tons. It won't be as hard as you think.

Reply
Lord VaderDinosaurs ForumCretaceous Carnage #6

I know. Still though. I don't care who you are, I don't care what you are, I don't care how big and strong you are, 14 feet of anything isn't going to effortlessly be swung around.

Reply
Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumCretaceous Carnage #6

It would be like you swiping your arm.

Reply
Spinosaurus RexDinosaurs ForumCretaceous Carnage #6

But as a Therizinosaurus, its arm... is just its arm ;)

Reply
Hiphopananomus Dinosaurs ForumCretaceous Carnage #6

Mr.H the problem wth swinging a pipe or riffle is its not proportional. But, a similar point it...

ever see some body in a boxing match throw a wind mail punch or more commonly known as a haymaker. No. The reason for this being while it is a very powerful punch it is easy to counter. If the Therizinosaurus missed it would most likely lose its balence due to the momentum. Leaving it vulnerable.

But, most of the time the hit would probably go home, as Daspletosaurus aren't fast or agile animals.
