Agreed with your list Gigadino, even though further analysis and new findings could regularly change the position between the big carcharodontosaurids and Tyrannosaurus.

It's quite impressive how much Giganotosaurus body mass and proportions have been revised. In the late 90's it was supposed to weigh 30 % more than Tyrannosaurus and have a 1.95 m skull, now it is considered just in the same size range than Tyrannosaurus (with several Tyrannosaurus individuals slightly bigger) with a 1.56 m skull.

Unsurprising though when one compare an allosaur grade built and a barrel chested animal.

I m pretty sure too that Tyrannosaurus has the heaviest skull among theropods. I ve read McHenry dissertation about Kronosaurus queenslandicus biology, at one moment it compares the volumetric mass of its skull with others predatory reptiles.

It appears that Sue's 1.5 m skull is more voluminous than the 1.8 m skull of one of the known Kronosaurus individuals (of course the largest 2.3 m Kronosaurus skull are bigger). I d be interested in seeing the volumetric mass of the skull in large carcharodontosaurids.

Yeah, exactly TK, which is why I am going to close this topic now, as much as I hate doing so. It was derailed pages ago by bickering.

@Kom: I am sorry, I missed your second post to me. Here is the second screenshot Kom tried to post.

Guys, please have respect for one another. You can all debate 'till the cows come home, but there is no need to resort to personal attacks.

True, New Spino Probably could do that. That's not to say Old Spino couldn't either. Even in the water Old Spino still has a good chance to win,

Maganuco told me depending of numerous factors, the new paper about Spinosaurus will be finished during the next two years.

In the meantime, it's fine to consider Spinosaurus at 6-7 tons for an adult individual. The new reconstruction is definitely more slender than the previous one, no matter what want to believe the fanboys.

True, yet New Spino's tail was almost as long as its body

I'm completely disagree. Gig's holotype wasn't shorter than Sue, it was longer (by a slighty margin), but lighter. Carcharodontosaurus wasn't likely anything bigger than Giganotosaurus. Carch's skull was 156 cm long, around as long the one of Gig's holotype. SMG din-1 was likely beween 12 and 13 m, as big as or even slighty smaller than Giganotosaurus' largest specimen (but given that both are fragmentary, I treat them as two same sized animals), so there is no evidence that suggest us that Carch is the largest. And how can an average T.rex be 12.2 m long, when the largest is 12.3 m long?

The comparison you posted is also wrong. Gig's skull is greatly exagerrated, it was closer to 1,4-1,6 m long. Mapusaurus' skull should be similar to that of Giganotosaurus in lenght. C.iguidensis wasn't even closer to that huge size, it was actually 83% the size of C.saharicus, so less than 11 m. Torvosaurus skull is also exagerrated, it was more like to 1,1-1,2 m long, the 1,58 m measurement was wrong. T.rex's skull is also too big, the largest one belongs to Sue and it's slighty over 1.4 m.

A good list would be, for me:

1. T.rex: 10~12,3 m; 4~8 t +

2. G.carolinii, M.rosae, C.saharicus: 12~13 m, 7~8 t

3. S.aegyptiacus: 12~15 m, 6~7 t

4. T.chubuitensis: 11,4~12,2 m, 6~7 t

5. D.mirificus: 11 m, 6~6,5 t

I know it's old, but I wanted to share my opinion.

It says that if they are legit, they will have to take them off of the site(probably because lego won't want to ruin what the D-rex will look like.). Why doesn't everyone just save the pictures to their computers, because theres no way lego can get those pictures back if we have them.

I actually think that, if these Lego designs are those of the real raptors in the movie, that these will be different individuals in Pratt's raptor behavioural study.  From the nature documentaries that I've watched, it's common to name different individual animals so that you have a more in-depth look into their behaviour, letting you become familiarized.

But he might have been able to at least pull him out of the water. On land he could have won against New Spino. Also it depends on how long the tail was. If he had a long tail he might have been able to bend at that angle.

TYRANT KING - Ah, Florida! You know, I've actually been there once - to St. George Island? I and a group of friends from my journalist office pitched in to rent a house there for a week, and it was absolutely gorgeous! That was actually the first time I'd been to the states; and I loved it! My bikini got ruined by a piece of driftwood while I was diving, but it was a fantastic trip! Your beaches are breathtaking! :)

All knavery on my part aside, I would like to state that I typically react to SPINOSAURUS REX's comments with such negativity due to the fact that, unlike the vast majority of others whom present their claims and theories, the indidividual in question often takes (and seems to enjoy) an aggressive and hyper-critical stance when applying to a topic. When confronted with this and held to account, SPINOSAURRS REX hurls insults - to which I can point in this very topic with extreme alacrity. I honestly have no compunction with SPINOSAURUS REX; he's passionate about his views and holds to them unwaveringly. That is an admirable quality from which many can take a valuable lesson. That being said, argument and hostility for its own sake is the utter antithesis of insightful conversation.

kom, not so much as i think in my theories, but read the literature -- of which hasn't been publisized yet. so, i'll stick to my ideaology for now. debate's over, and i ensure you your insulting mannerisms wont get you far. not so much a threat, as much as it's a warning(i.e. drop it so you wont get banned or muted). regards.

The actual most recent litterature about Spinosaurus depicts a somewhat gracily built large theropod. There's not yet the published weight estimate. It wasn't included in the first paper but it will be afterward.

As long as I know it is going to be published, there's no reason to reject it now, at least discuss about it. But not saying, "no that's bullshit". It's not.

You're insulting me far more than I did to you. As for the threats of banning, I think that's admin's job and I'm not sure you're that legitimate to advise me that.

EDIT

Tyrant King, fair enough.

CARNOSAUR - It can seem that way, at times. That being said, I have hope that we'll all emerge on the other end of the tunnel a little wiser and more introspective. :)
