t-rex90Dinosaurs Forum10 Dinosaurs That Could Be The New Villain In Jurassic Park IVJun 12, 2013
They could just take out the chameleon aspects from them and just make them more regular, have them maybe be almost as big as T-Rex but T-Rex still being the top predator. The dinosaurs that had small parts in the previous movies could be given more of a role too I suppose, dilophosaurus especially.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumDeltadromeusJun 12, 2013
Probably, it would be a close race. Dinosaur classification is so sketchy. So many are so debatable. Acrocanthosaurus, is it a spinosaur or allosaur? Deltadromeus, is it a ceratosaur or an allosaur? Cryolophosaurus and Megalosaurus are also debatable. But that's a whole other discussion.

Therizinosaurus and Tarbosaurus

ReplyMakaveli7Dinosaurs ForumDeltadromeusJun 12, 2013
That would be pretty cool. The Deltadromeus fossil was 30 feet, but the Bahariasaurus skeleton is 40 feet. They're at least closely related, if not synonymous. It is officially a Ceratosaur as of now, but it's debated. I think it deserves its own family, being that it is possibly the lightest built theropod but has very long arms for grasping, unique to just itself. I think Deltadromeus might win the race, since that was its specialty, whereas Albertosaurus was a combination of speed and power.
ReplyMakaveli7Dinosaurs ForumClassic Dinosaur RivalsJun 12, 2013
Their ranges probably expanded beyond where their fossils were found. Sarcosuchus lived in South America too, as did Oxalaia, a very close relative of Spinosaurus.

Sorry, that Albertosaur pic did not work.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumDeltadromeusJun 12, 2013
I always thought Deltadromeus was around 30-35 ft long and about 2-3 tons. Who knows. Fossils are so rare it's hard to give a definite answer to anything, including size. I like your cheetah analogy. Delta was certainly fast, running somewhere between 30 and 40 miles per hour. It's similar to Albertosaurus in the fact that's it's big, but lightly built and very fast for it's size.
As far as it being a ceratosaur, I can't say I fully agree. It seems to be more allosaurian to me. You mentioned it was related to the carcharodontosaurs. This group was very close to the allosaurs while the ceratosaurs were very primitive in comparison. Like I said earlier though, it's so hard to say since good fossil evidence is rare.

Albertosaurus
Can you imagine a race between these two? Both are probably the among the fastest dinosaurs for their overall size ever!

It is also the circumstances. If they were fighting over a kill or territory, it could go either way. However, if it was a large bull rex defending it's family or a female defending her offspring, it's rex all the way. Terrain does not matter in this case. A lot of evidence points to T-rex being a "family" oriented dinosaur. This includes a site in S. Dakota or Montana, can't remember which to be honest, that has multiple Tyrannosaurus' of different sizes and ages. T-rex's cousins like Albertosaurus and Yutyrannus seem to be pack animals too. Although family behavior in Spinosaurus has not really been studied a lot, Spino seems like a solitary animal. Just another circumstance that could drastically effect the battle.

ReplyLord VaderDinosaurs ForumEffects that could change a T-Rex/Spino fightJun 12, 2013
Thanks. I left out something else that could give Rex a slight advantage over Spino on a plain. Because it was shorter and had (I know, I know) a massive bite force, if the timing was right, it could get underneath Spino, and rip it's neck open. This was unlikely though, but might put the odds ever so slightly in Rex's favour.

A video game would be alright. The only thing that could have saved it was being released before Jurassic Park. If it would have had a little more time to get straightened out, Jurassic Park would have been viewed as the copycat. It's kind of like the Sarcosuchus situation. Huge terrifying crocodile that could have been featured in everything that has to do with dinosaurs but just because the terrible SuperCroc movie was released, it was looked down upon. Doesn't matter how great the reboot is, it will still have a bad name.

Great analysis. I feel the same way. I like that you gave a terrain in favor of each, but also a neutral terrain.

Anytime. How would you feel about me doing a discussion on things that could effect a T-Rex/Spino battle? Loving the website too. Trying to think of some more rivalries. Maybe Herrarosaurus and Plateosaurus?

You left out Velociraptor and Protoceratops.
Those are good choices, I had already typed those and then searched for an image and it deleted what I typed.

When I found out that my site was also accessible from mobile devices, I was really happy. I am able to see how many people visit the site everyday. Usually averages 20-40 visits. The all time low was 10 and the all time high was 156.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumYutyrannusJun 11, 2013
I understand what ya mean. I decided in the beginning that the T-rex vs Spino pic might work for the home page, but it's kind of temporary for the others. That's gonna take a while to change so I decided to put that off til I have a good, long time to take care of it.
ReplyLord VaderDinosaurs ForumYutyrannusJun 11, 2013
That is a pretty good picture. What you need to do is have a picture of the largest/best known dinosaur of each family when you choose a family. When it stays the same top pic, it kinda throws me off because I have to scroll down (might not be an issue on a computer, but on an iPad it is a little confusing). The website is great though.

ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumYutyrannusJun 11, 2013
I can't help it, haha. I made sure to have a nice variety of other dinosaurs. The allosaur group rivals the tyrannosaur one as far as amount of dinos goes.
