Just to clear that up, DinoFights was a member here and a real life friend to Makevli(after the Horrormouth, as it seems to be one word based on your site, incident, they stopped talking to each other. I've been talking to DinoFights myself via email). Anyways, his sister is a scientist that was going to take a trip to Africa. Said she'd keep on the lookout for any signs of the Horrormouth.

Yeah, I'm just saying that I see many people saying that T. rex was really smart, and although for its time it was certainly above average, I find that compared to modern day animals, it is nothing.

Silver, I agree T.rex was no genius compared to some modern day animals, but for a dinosaur, it was an Einstein. Some birds(the Harris Hawk for example) hunt in family groups and if T.rex was a smart as some birds, then maybe that's more evidence for group behavior in large tyrannosaurs. Kind of random, but you know, that's me.

The estimates for the ratio of cerebrum mass to brain mass would range from 47.5 to 49.53 percent. According to the study, this is more than the lowest estimates for extant birds (44.6 percent), but still close to the typical ratios of the smallest sexually mature alligators which range from 45.9–47.9 percent. That said, T.rex intelligence is hard to determine without living specimens.

I too will jump on the bandwagon and agree with rex fan, but will go a step further and add another possibility:

Possibility 3. They had extremely small feathers as adults, similar to the hairs on rhinos and elephants today.

Just feel like pointing out that although rex had a large brain, most of it was purely for interpreting its senses, and its intelligence would be more comparable to that of a crocodile. I'll try to find the study that found this and share it with you guys.

I have always wondered if the fossils of dinosaurs can actually be proven as reptiles, with the possibility that they could be something else. Perhaps, if a complete dinosaur carcass in reasonable condition has been found and preserved, we could see what it really was like.

Yeah I agree with rex fan that rex lost most if not all of their feathers as they matured and northen species like Gorgosaurus and Albertosaurus had feathers because they needed them.

True, I don't know there's a reason why all of these super predators go extinct ussualy climate change sometimes there prey disappears or sometimes something better comes along.

I do think T.rex could definitely go for a long run but, if something changed significantly like there main prey dies out, or something better comes along or extreme climate change I just don't think something as large as a rex would survive unless it changed.

Don't get me wrong I completely understand what you guys are saying, I understand that rex was one of if not the most advanced predators to ever live but, I just don't think any super predator is invincible.  

That's another way of looking at it though. It's a valid perception. 

I beleive in either of these theories as I see them possible...

1. Large tyrannosaurs like T.rex had feathers when they were young, but lost them as they matured.

2. Adult tyrannosaurs had a few feathers as adults for display(on the head, neck, tail, arms, etc.).

Now, exceptions could be made for the northern species like Albertosaurus or Gorgosaurus.

Hope this makes sense.

Perhaps a crest on its head. At the most, probably something like the Gorgosaurus and Albertosaurus from March of the Dinosaurs.

I think what he meant was T.rex could have been like, say, Allosaurus. Allosaurus was around from roughly 140-155 million years. A 15 million year run without changing much. If I'm correct, MrHappy means T.rex could have done something like that(maybe even longer) before it adapted and changed.

I meant among super predators, not the little ones. But, climate change might not have been as much a problem as you think. If Earth got colder, they'd probably go farther south. That, or the ones up north would die out slowly, but the ones further south keep thriving. If the earth got warmer, then opposite of previous situation. 

It's possible, but, something probably would have stoped it like climate change or something that seems to stop most of the super predators, I myself think that the raptors would have lasted the longest, because unlike rex they wouldn't need as much food so they could live off other small animals that could also survive a climate change.
