Sci-Fi King25Jurassic World ForumPrehistoric Mammals in Jurassic World?

Well, who doesn't love mammoths? :)

Also, maybe they could breed the mammoths and sell them to other zoos and parks.

Hmm. Your math is sound. I just checked. Good! Its not too blatantly large.

All we know of is a baby Triceratops. I'd assume there's baby/juvenile herbivores, and possibly adult ornithomimids and smaller hadrosaurs.

I know right. And there were these things called bear dogs that were dogs that had the body of a bear. The Pleistocene/Oligocene Epocs were god awfully scary.

the 38-42 foot figure i gave? i think it fits. predominatly because we have no 65+ foot mosasaurs, and i don't think this movie is going to give an erroneous size like that just for giggles

Uh, an adult sauropod could easily break out. It would not even need to "break out", it could just step over the barriers. And judging by the photos we have seen the fence is only about 4.5 feet tall.

Yeah, they have nick-named the "hogs from hell". The weird thing is, there closest living relatives are Whales.

Carno, are you saying its actually the right size? Because I had a similar feeling it was about right, maybe a little bit bigger.

It has been a while, nice to see old names lol. Well, from the angle it's taken, it should make the spines appear taller, as any picture taken below what are taking a picture of will do the same.

This 12 ft shark was the same length as the mosasaur's head, so that says something right there. I'd put the mosasaur in the 60-80 ft range. M. hoffamani and Tylosaurus are some of the biggest mosasaurs we know and they were around 40-50 ft long.

Yeah you have good point. Though the so-called Entelodont is a different story ;)

Well, I don't think an Ice Age mammal is built to live on a tropical island.

BBC's liopleurodon was thought to be synonymous with the Monster of Arembarri at that time. instead of calling it the MoA, they lumped it in with lio. however, the MoA isn't a 15-18 m giant any more, based on the proportions, it'd be ~11.5-13 meters. anyway, with this scaling issue here, i assumed the shark to be 14ft. this mosasaur looks like it absolutely dwarfs it when it's breaching. taking this into account, i got 38-42 ft. for our big guy here. which, is more acceptable then the 76+ft figure in the OP( no offence) now, taking into consideration M. hoffmani obtained lengths comparable to my scaling results, i think it's very likely. Cheers!

An average Tyrannosaur was actually around 12.1 meters to 14.2 meters. Tyrannosaurus has undergone an average size increase based on about 7 (admitabbly fragmentary) remains that would be sized around 15 meters. If you want I can give you a specimen list and even a couple references and papers.

You have a point... But if it was the Angle of the picture what else would it be?

Reply
Lord of the SpinosaursJurassic World ForumThe size of the Mosasaur in JW (UPDATED WITH PICTURE)

An average Tyrannosaurus was about 11.5 meters, Rexy was about 14 meters. And they refered to the "Deinonychus" in JP as Velociraptors, so thats the wrong size for Velociraptor. Though I didn't know sbout the Dilophosaurus, I'll give you that one.

Hi Fact Dude! Long time, no see! Also, I think that's just the angle of the picture.

Reply
Primal KingJurassic World ForumThe size of the Mosasaur in JW (UPDATED WITH PICTURE)

@ Lord of Spinos, The Dilophosaur was a juvenile, the raptors were actually closer to large deinonychus or small Utahraptors, and the Tyrannosaur was the right size. Not sure what you mean.

But I doubt we can pin it on the Genetic Tampering.

It just wouldn't add up.

Maybe its a Larger shark?

There's got to be some factor we're missing here, Or colin just got something SO IMPORTANT, Wrong...

Well firstly LIOPLEURODON is much much smaller than that and the Mosasaur certainly looks much bigger to me but if that's what you measured that's fine.

On the site, It does say that Whoever is Participating in it must be:

Physically and mentally fit

And under a certain weight.

I believe there's also a Waver or something aswell? They only do it in the Herbivores pen, PLUS, I'd imagine they'd have a guide with them to make sure no one pisses off some Herbivore and then gets killed.

They'd take SOOO Many precautions, It wouldn't even be funny.

Lord of the SpinosaursJurassic World ForumThe size of the Mosasaur in JW (UPDATED WITH PICTURE)

Don't mean to sound rude, but Lioplaurodon was only about 7 meters. Walking with Dinosaurs did a little bit of an overestimate there... Also, the Mosasaurus in JW is too big. But, a size being wrong in the Jurassic Park franchise is nothing new. Seriously, they got the size wrong of every Theropod in the original Jurassic Park with the exception of the pelicans at the end. Anyways, nice post though, I do agree with your estimates.
