@futurepaleantologist
I said nothing about binocular vision. As I stated, Rex wouldn't have required acute eyesight because he would be out in the open.

I love it, but don't you think this should belong more in the movie discussions?
Replymonsterchief117Dinosaurs Forum10 Dinosaurs That Could Be The New Villain In Jurassic Park IVJun 9, 2013
I think the chameleon type carnotaurus from the Lost World:JP arcade game would pretty awesome to see as the main dinosaur picking on the people. I would love to see all these dinosaurs in the movie though.
ReplyjurassicparkourJurassic World ForumMy synopsis for JP4Jun 9, 2013
Just to add to the film, here's descriptions of the new dinos:
Allosaurus: similar to the JP 2013 toy, or maybe the papo allosaur figure
Pachyrhinosaurus: similar to the JP 2013 toy, but with more subdued, more realistic colors
T-rex: This drawing pretty much says it all:
Utahraptor: Same
Predator X: 80 feet long, highly reminiscent of the WWD liopleurodon, but more paleontologically accurate.
Edmontosaurus: identical to the edmontosaurs briefly seen in the arcade game for The Lost World
All the other dinosaurs are virtually identical to their previous incarnations in the films.

Wow, I'm really quite impressed at the discussions being posted on these forums. You guys are posting some really interesting stuff, keep up the great work! I love this list, all of them should be in Jurassic Park 4 - but that's my opinion. Haha

I personally am against marine animals just because I don't see how they could fit the overall plot. I think that they are cool, but I just don't see anyway to have them in the story (except maybe sinking a ship or two. Nice plot idea though.
ReplyjurassicparkourDinosaurs ForumWhy T-Rex is betterJun 9, 2013
Spino is bigger and more impressive... but they would both die if a Predator X caught them on the beach. Going off on a tangent, but there's plenty of fan-written JP4 scripts that make the rex the villain again. Rex is in his grave. Spino's sun is setting. It's time for the marine reptiles to make it to the big screen.

No one considered Predator X (also known as Pliosaurus funkei). It was over 50 feet long, but InGen could have easily screwed up and given them genes to grow larger than that.

It's a pretty good book. It's interesting how it's written from a dinosaur's POV, but with minimal dialogue. And, Dinosaurs Weren't In Genesis, yes, they existed. I'm a Catholic and I'm fairly sure that those bones aren't fake or planted by God.
Replyfuturepaleontologist1Dinosaurs ForumWhy T-Rex is betterJun 9, 2013
Àh, but @Dinosaur.Fanatic, just because an animal has binocular vision doesn't mean it can see well. Take Allosaurus for example
ReplyjurassicparkourJurassic World ForumMy synopsis for JP4Jun 9, 2013
Harris: David Oyelowo
Rossart: Bryce Dallas Howard
Levine: Christian Slater
Howard King: David Boreanaz
Baselton: Again, I'm not sure who could do this role. I minimized his part in the story, but he'll play a larger role in the 5th film.
Hammond: Richard Attenborough (if he doesn't die first)
All the other characters would be played by the actors that portray them in the first 3 films
As for the reasons for Tim and Malcolm's return to the island...Tim did it out of a sense of duty to his grandfather, since his grandpa gave him everything: paid for his college, helped him get a job, etc. And to impress Rossart, just a little bit. Malcolm mostly went to try and steer the rest of the team in the right direction, and to keep them safe with his knowledge and expertise of InGen's dinosaurs.
ReplyDinosaur.FanaticJurassic World ForumMy synopsis for JP4Jun 9, 2013
I agree. You set this up really well, and it has the makings of an intriguing movie.
My only concern is this: what would motivate Tim and Malcolm to return to the island after Tim's and both of Malcolm's near death experiences? Even if they had a care for the park, I doubt they would bring themselves to return.
Also, what actors and actresses would you cast for Levine, Rossart, and Harris? What about Hammond, Grant, Malcolm, and Tim?
This was a really interesting plot! Thanks for writing it!

Wow. That is one of the best ideas yet. It combines both islands with the dinosaurs that were on each. It has a similar plot to the second book as well with similar characters. Not bad, not bad at all.

Baryonyx was originally going to be in JP3, but was replaced with Spinosaurus.

I myself am a strong believer in the bible. Genesis does not mention dinosaurs, but it does mention great sea monsters and creatures of every sort roamed the land. And flying beasts of the heavens. Anyone of these could include dinosaurs and their prehistoric counterparts.

I'd say Ankylosaurus. It had more mass. Stegosaurus still had to know how to avoid predators a little without its armor.
ReplyRexKillerDinosaurs ForumEdmontonia vs UtahraptorJun 9, 2013
I wonder which was dumber: Stegosaurus or Ankylosaurus?
ReplyRexKillerDinosaurs ForumEdmontonia vs UtahraptorJun 9, 2013
It didn't have to be any smarter than the ferns it ate. The armor and tail took care of everything else.
ReplyCarnotitanDinosaurs ForumEdmontonia vs UtahraptorJun 9, 2013
Well it did't have to be smart. It had to know 3 manual functions to live: breathe, eat, swing tail.

That's fine. If I do one for Rex, odds are I will do a follow up on Spino. I like both just fine (just Rex more), and I don't really like which one is better discussions either. If I do comment on those, I put advantages for both.

Y'all need to quit all this dinosaur nonsense. They probably never existed because God never said they were real. He mentions a behemoth with a tail like a cedar, but that was a dragon IMO! I don't mean to offend. I just want to save you from eternal damnation. "Fossils" were probably planted in the ground by the devil to fool us, or by God to test our faith. Trust The Lord and it will pay off in the end! Trust in me, a loyal follower of God and his son!!!

I know Dinosaur.Fanatic. Did you read the first bit of the description? I said I would do a why Spinosaurus is better in a few days. I was focusing more on the advantages that Rex had over Spino. Hope this clears thing up.

I've been reading up on it on Wikipedia. I hope that some day I can make animated fights. Sounds pretty cool.
ReplyDinosaur.FanaticDinosaurs ForumWhy T-Rex is betterJun 9, 2013
It's just so hard to tell which dinosaur is actually BETTER. Both predators were on such different turfs and lived such different lifestyles.
I have to disagree (respectfully) with several of you on several different points:
@futurepaleantologist - Since T-rex most likely did most of his hunting in open Cretaceous plains, he would not have needed acute eyesight to spot prey such as Anatotitan or Edmontosaurus, both hadrosaurs from the late Cretaceous. Rex might have made ambush attacks from the cover of a thicket, but his size and stature would make it unlikely that he would be hunting in dense jungles and therefore need more acute eyesight like that of a dromeosaur. The large olbary lobes would simply be a useful tool for sensing prey nearby or perhaps detecting an opposing predator like another rex.
@MrHappy - You can't just look at Rex's advantages. You also have to look at Spino's. If we are weighing the two dinosaurs on the same scale, putting them against each other in a fight, I agree that rex has the clear advantage and, environmental forces excluded, would most likely beat Spino. However, I do not believe this makes rex the "better" predator. Like I said before, both dinos had skills to dominate their own turfs. Rex's nasty bite force, Spino's long arms and claws. Maybe T-rex is more powerful, but at least give Spino the due respect of a ferocious and awesome dinosaur.
