From left to right: caiman, crocodile, alligator and gharial at the bottom.
Notice that Spino's jaws are crocodile-like, while the others are very thin and gharial-like.

It has pretty much been established that the claws are huge. Let's call them 2 feet so that it is in the middle.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumWhy Spinosaurus is betterJun 10, 2013
As far as claw length goes, that's really dependent on your estimate for the whole animal and I don't want to get into that again, lol
ReplyLord VaderDinosaurs ForumWhy Spinosaurus is betterJun 10, 2013
The jaws weren't quite as robust as a T-Rex's jaws, but as far Spinosaurs jaws go, they were powerful. So I had a point when I said the muscles may have been weak for opening the jaws.
ReplySpinosaurus RexDinosaurs ForumWhy Spinosaurus is betterJun 10, 2013
i think Spinosaurus's claws were more like 2 1/2 feet long.
ReplyRexKillerDinosaurs ForumWhy Spinosaurus is betterJun 10, 2013
Spinosaurus had crocodile jaws. Suchomimus and Baryonyx, along with most of the other Spinosaurs had gharial jaws. The jaws of Spinosaurus were much more robust, and the jaws were powerful at closing, but had weak opening muscles. I think Bronrosaurus>apatosaurus said something about it.

I know, this is just mainly advantages. If anyone wants, I could make a disadvantage discussion too.

Sorry, I was not downgrading Spinosaurus. Just stating facts about him ;)
ReplyLord VaderDinosaurs ForumWhy Spinosaurus is betterJun 10, 2013
I was just talking what it had over Rex, so I did not mention any disadvantages (just to clear things up for any newcomers).

Oh, I forgot. Please don't lie about it. Everything I posted is legit. It's not cool and it does not make you look cool. Just a nice, truthful discussion about fossils.
Thanks Guys

Honestly I would say it would probably be a 25/25/25/25 meaning the Rex 25%, Char 25%, Neither 25%, and Both die 25%. the Char would likely cause the Rex some pretty serious injuries like wise the Rex would Injure the Char badly. If we follow the chances that the two could have a Bacteria in their jaws like a Komodo Dragon Infection from that could case some poisoning.
Charcarodontosaurus means Shark Tooth Lizard and Tyrannosaurus Rex means Tyrant Lizard King I see no clear winner

I would say these were the True Big Guys of North Africa the Spino was a nothing more a oversized Fisherman

Spino had teeth designed for gripping, not tearing or crushing. This would have been perfect against smaller adversaries, but it's less than powerful jaws and gripping teeth would have done little against something large. I ain't gonna say anything about the size issue because we all know what I would say. Spino is big nonetheless. Like you said, it's foot and a half long claws and long arms would have been it's primary weapon.

A little bigger than what the fossil shows, but not much bigger.

Because it probably did have more to it. It likely had a protruding attachment of some sort, like this

Sometimes the littlest detail can set some people off so I decided to include that at the end of my posts that mention size.

Replyt-rex90Jurassic World ForumLets support Sam NeillJun 10, 2013
Alan Grant was always my favorite character in the Jurassic Park movies and I think Sam Neill did a great job playing him in JP and JP3, although I do like Jeff Goldblum and thought that Malcolm was cool as well, the JP movies just are'nt the same without Grant, as Dinosaur.Fanatic said, there's just some kind of leadership he has that the others don't.

Utah Raptor and Triceratops also happen to be a few of my other favs as well. What's more scarier than a bunch of velociraptors that are no more than the size of a turkey coming after ya? how about a pack of Utah Raptors the size of a man! And Triceratops, well it was just so cool with those 3 horns and big frill to protect it from fierce predators like T-Rex and the kind of neck bone they had made it a really tough prey to fight.

Estimates go as high as 40 ft, but they average about 33-36 ft.

Carcharodontosaurus (Identified as such in Dinosaur Planet where this pic is from, but it was technically Giganotosaurus. Still a good pic that could go both ways)
ReplyjurassicparkourJurassic World ForumLets support Sam NeillJun 10, 2013
Alan Grant was my hero as a little kid...I used to like to be called "Dr. Grant." I know, it's weird, but I was 3.
Anyway, Sam Neill should have some role in the film; my storyline gives him a minor role at the beginning and a bit more at the end. http://www.jurassicpark4-movie.com/community/forums/topic/25376

Ceratosaurus is one of my favorites. Although, at 25 ft long and about 2 tons, it was not massive, it was still terrifying. I wish Ceratosaurus would get more attention.

Camarasaurus is probably one of, if not my favorite, sauropod ever. It was not massive, but still huge. Somewhere in the range of 63-70+ ft long and 20-30 tons.

ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumWhy T-Rex is betterJun 10, 2013
Tyrannosaurus almost certainly had good binocular vision. Futurepaleontologist1, you said earlier that Allosaurus' eyes were similar to Tyrannosaurus' and it had bad vision. Allo had eyes placed more to the side while Rex had forward facing eyes like a wolf or lion.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumCharcharodontosaurusJun 10, 2013
Tyrannosaurus most of the time. If Carchar was possibly longer, but Rex was probably heavier. Therefore, stronger. Carchar would not go down without a fight though. Probably cut up the Rex pretty well with it's knife-like teeth. Rex would win most of the time though because it had a stronger bite, smarter, stronger pound for pound, and it's binocular vision would help it keep it's opponent in it's line of sight. Carchar's were more to the side like Allosaurus or Giganotosaurus.
T-rex would win about 65 percent of the time, Carchar wins 30 percent of the time, they both back down or it ends in a draw 5 percent of the time.
Thanks

Even without the various other predators around, that Cryo had no chance. It's not because of his size or weapons. You mess with a mother of any sort and her offspring, you're messing with hell. I did something similar in my fight between Tyrannosaurs and Spinosaurus. The Spino in that fight and the Cryo in this one failed to realize that the bond between a mother and her young is stronger than any weapon they had. Well done!
ReplyDinosaur.FanaticDinosaurs ForumWhy T-Rex is betterJun 10, 2013
That's fine. It's eyesight may not have been that good, but most likely it was. Notice that most animal's senses are usually attuned not only to get food, but also to their surroundings. I strongly believe that T-rex's eyesight would have been strong enough for it's surroundings. And again, large rocks and fallen trees would most likely not be found in the middle of plains. Well...maybe rocks, but you get the idea.
Yes, I know you are neither Team Rex or Spino - you are Team Carchar. Don't let me get in the way of your opinion. :)
