AdminIndoraptorAug-24-2012 3:00 PMA very evident mix between James Cameron's [i]ALIENS[/i] movie and Spielberg's [i]Jurassic Park[/i] - Dino Crisis is a 3 part series of dino-fighting action. To be honest, I really enjoyed the first Dino Crisis on PS1 - such a long time ago now. The game had great scares and was probably one of the best dinosaur games ever released to date. I haven't played a ton, but from what I gather, for its time, it was a fantastic action shooter.

But Dino Crisis 3, the latest in the Dino Crisis game series seems to have taken on a much more "sci fi" tone - with mutant space dinosaurs. At first you think it's cheesy, but in actuality it's not that bad! I thought of DC3 after one of our members here brought up the idea "What if Jurassic Park 4 took place in space?". So, I think the story behind Dino Crisis 3 might be a rough idea of what we could expect if JP ever did go that route.
The problem with that is, Dino Crisis' sotry line is for a more mature audience, meaning it's scary and violent. JP has mainly been about wonders and thrills.

MemberCompsognathusAug-24-2012 3:40 PMDino Crisis 1 was one of the greatest dinosaur game ever release imo. It was nothing but Resident Evil, but with dinosaurs. And that's what made it a great game. The survival horror setting, the story taking place at night, and knowing that you had to ration your ammo. It made the game very enjoyable. You knew at certain areas you were being hunted!!!
Dino Crisis 2 was kinda of like the Lost World to me. It was good....but not the masterpiece the original was. The survival horror element was gone, and in it's place was a scoring system. It graded you on how many dinosaurs you killed in each area. So no longer was there the feeling of dredd. Ammo was almost unlimited, and you were now the hunter. It transformed in just 18 months from a survival horror game with dinosaurs, too another "Turok" that's just happen to be made by Capcom.
Dino Crisis 3......I tried the demo back in 03....NO....JUST NO!
If JP do go in that direction.....just don't mutate the Dinos IMHO. Then they won't be Dinosaurs anymore, but something else completely. But if the series do go in that direction let it be a cross-over with like.....ALIENS!!!! MemberCompsognathusAug-24-2012 6:37 PMI agree, mutant dinos is something completely different and takes away their mystical appeal that we imagine ourselves.
I actually only played DC 1 and I kinda liked it despite being a total RE ripoff + 3D camera. Can't blame Capcom though since the concept worked out well with RE. Predatory dinos belong in the horror genre IMO, most of them have the looks to scare with sharp teeth, claws and hunting instincts... shivers...
