The Prehistoric Americas Episode 4: enter the Cretaceous

230 million years ago, it seemed as if reptiles were invincible. Then a new species came on the scene, the dinosaurs. They ruled the world for 160 million years, they ranged in all shapes in sizes from the tiny Compsognathus to the massive Aregntinosaurus. In this series we will be exploring the prehistoric Americas.

A herd of Tenotosaurus is grazing on the plains of 125 million year old America. Since the jurassic, many new species of dinosaurs have evolved. Such as Tenotosaurus, it belongs to the family known as the Hadrosaurs.

Hadrosaurs may seem simple but, there a huge step in evolution, unlike most herbivores they have thousands of tightly packed teeth it allows them to eat more vegitation, faster. It's the reason for their size, Tenotosaurus average at 2 tons. Their big but, nothing no matter how big is safe. Because this area is crawling with predators, such as Utharaptor. Weighting in at nearly a ton Utharaptor is the biggest raptor to ever live.

It's not the biggest or smallest predator in the area but, certenly one of the most deadly. This Utharaptor is alone sometimes they hunt in packs but, this induvidual is alone. The Utharaptor noticed a small female on her own. The Utahraptor bolted out of the forest with lighting speed. The Tentosaurus scatter. The Utharaptor follows its target. The Utharaptor leaps into the air, and latches onto the Tenotosaurus. The Tentosaurus bucks, making the Utahraptor fall off. No matter, how advanced predators fail 9 times out of 10. A few miles away a herd of sauropods are grazing.

The herd consist of two species Astrodon and Sauroposiden. Both of these sauropods are massive but, Saurposiden weighs on average 30 tons more then Astrodon.

Suddenly the herd of Tenotosaurus appeared. The sauropods didn't mind. There was enough food and water for all of them. The herbivores are unaware that they are being stocked by two predators. The Utahraptor and a new pack of carnivores, Deinoychus. The pack is 5 Storng. Each Deinoychus weigh in at about 150 lbs.

The Utharaptor noticed the Deinoychus pack but, instead of scaring them off, the Utharaptor would let them do the work. The alpha Deinoychus gave an attack order. The raptors charged out onto the plain. The sauropods didn't need to fear the raptors but the Tenotosaurus did. The Tenotosaurus sccatred. The Deinoychus zeroed in on their target, they leaped onto the Tentosaurus and started attacking. The Tentosaurus tripped over a log, the fall crippled the hadrosaur, leaving it helpless. Before the Deinoychus could feast the Utahraptor interrupted them.

The Deinychus got ready to fight but, then left. The Utahraptor wasn't sure why they left but, it didn't question it. The Utahraptor had its whole skull into the Tenotosaurus stomach cavity, making it unaware of the approaching foot steps. Suddenly, the Utahraptor was lifted off of the ground, the raptor started screeching. The attacker was, Acrocanthosaurus.

Acrocanthosaurus is easily the biggest predator in the area, at 35-38 feet long and 5-6 tons Acrocanthosaurus are huge. The Saurpods fled the scene, Acrocanthosaurus are there only fear. The Acrocanthosaurus gorged itself. Its a been a few days The Acroacanthosaurus is stalking a lone Astrodon. The Acroacanthosaurus is ready to hunt. The Acrocanthosaurus charged the saurpod. The Astrodon fled in the opposite direction. The Acroacanthosaurus gave chase. The Acrocanthosaurus jumped on the sauropods side, with the extra weight the Astrodon fell on its side. The Acroacanthosaurus finished off the sauropod with a bite to the neck.

Soon, these giants would become even bigger and ore terrifying then they are now.
