FIGHT!
A huge bull elephant is scouring the plains of Africa, itching for a fight. His body is pumped up with testosterone and he’s very aggressive. Right now his only concern is finding an outlet for his aggression. His trunk picks up the scent of something and his ears can hear some faint noise and movement. Perhaps it’s something he can fight.
A mile or so away from the bull, a nest sits in the shade of an acacia tree. The eggs are all broken and the chicks are playing. Their parents are out hunting and they’re vulnerable. The ground begins to shake. Assuming it’s one of their parents, they leave the nest to go meet whoever it is.
The elephant stares down at the tiny dinosaurs. He was hoping for something that would actually be a challenge. This is an insult to his abilities. One chick gets too close and he crushes it with his foot. The others shriek in fright and panic. Suddenly the bull’s feeling better. He steps on another and another. The remaining two huddle together in the nest. The bull trumpets loudly and raises his foot. As he starts to bring it down, he’s struck by something with the force of a runaway freight train. The elephant stumbles aside and turns to see his attacker. Daddy’s very angry.
The tyrant king roars so loudly at his rival that it can be heard for miles and shakes the ground beneath them. He positions himself between the elephant and his young. The bull trumpets and stamps his feet. Now this is more like it. He splays his big ears and trumpets loudly. The Tyrannosaurus is furious. He has a deep hatred for bull elephants when they’re like this. He growls and snarls at the elephant, daring him to come closer. The elephant charges and so does the T.rex. They collide head on and engage in a shoving match. The T.rex outweighs the elephant, but the bull can make up for that being on all fours. The elephant brings his head up and a tusk smashes into the Tyrannosaurus’ lower jaw. The T.rex stumbles back, his jaw cracked. He stares the bull dead in the eye and spits out some teeth and blood. The act intimidates the elephant a bit and he hesitates. The T.rex charges and outflanks the bull. His teeth tear through the thick hide and rip off a chunk of flesh. The T.rex tosses the ragged hunk of meat aside and roars, blood dripping from his fangs.
The elephant turns and faces the T.rex. He trumpets and swings his tusk, smacking the dinosaur in the chest. The theropod stumbles a bit, but quickly regains his balance. The bull charges the T.rex at full speed, but the Tyrannosaurus gets out of the way in time. He lunges and catches the bull’s short tail. The tyrannosaur yanks hard and rips it clean off. He swallows the tail whole, mocking the bull.
The elephant charges again, fuming with rage. The T.rex braces for the impact. The elephant slams into the tyrannosaur. The bull sends a tusk into his shoulder, breaking bones and making a bloody mess. The T.rex leaps back and clamps down on the tusk. The bull struggles to free himself from the jaws of the angry father, but the T.rex doesn’t let go. Then, the Tyrannosaurus twists his head and snaps the tusk in two. He drops part of the tusk and roars at the bull. The bull charges unexpectedly. He wraps his trunk around the arm of the tyrannosaur and breaks it with a quick twist. The T.rex roars and clamps down on the trunk of the elephant. He shreds it and tears it apart. The elephant shoves the T.rex back and the tyrannosaur steps on the broken tusk. He slips and falls hard.
The elephant tries to use his good tusk and gore the Trex while he’s down. But the tyrant is ready. He lifts his foot and places it on the bull’s head, holding him back. He digs his claws into the head of the elephant and the bull leaps back in pain. The T.rex gets up a and attacks. He rips open the flank of the bull with his teeth. Then he slams his body into the bull and shoves. He tries to push the elephant down, but he’s not quite strong enough. The elephant is braced and can stay put due to his four legs. But it all changes in an instant. The bull is slammed into and Mom adds her weight, shoving the bull to the ground. She places her foot on his head, pinning him. The male T.rex then rakes his claws down the stomach of the elephant. He slashes and slashes over and over again. Eventually, the stomach cavity is opened and the bull’s blood and guts pour onto the hot ground. The male T.rex shoves his head in and emerges with the liver clenched in his bloody jaws.
The female T.rex nuzzles her mate with her snout. She heard the commotion and came running as soon as she could. The parents check on their remaining offspring. Shaken, but alive. The T.rex family look to the sky together and roar in victory. The true kings of the jungle have triumphed again.
Winner- Tyrannosaurus rex
How did the T.rex win? It wasn’t size, strength, or weapons. It was the family bond. No animal, no matter how big or terrifying would ever succeed against the strength of a mad T.rex protecting their offspring, let alone two!
