Hello everyone, this is my first discussion and I am sorry if this topic has already been used. But what I want to know is what Velociraptor type do you think they will have in Jurassic World. With there being two subspecies I am curious to see which one they will pick. I personally think it could be sornaensis because of Chris Pratt's is doing behavioural studies on them and as we all know sornaensis has the more complex behavior patterns of the two. Still it could be nublarensis if they deside to bring the original raptors back. So whats your opinion on this?

I myself would rather see the Nublar ones. That's me though.

I'm thinking that it might be an entirely new species which will collide with a pack of Nublar-Raptors that survived the 93 incident.

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

In the book has a cave in south of the island where they found a nest, maybe they can use the idea. They open the cave and boom, dozens of Raptors running wild in the park. Beautiful.

Not sure which species this is, but I prefer the tiger-colored ones from the Lost World. (I count it and the originals as V. A. N., and the JP3 ones as V. A. S.)

I prefer the Nublar raptors myself(although they are slightly less accurate, relatively speaking).

Sci-fi King25- your thinking of the male nublarensis raptors. All of you have great perspectives and it is hard to beat the classics.

LAUGHS LOUDLY, PERHAPS EVEN ARROGANTLY.

These aren't two Different Species...

*Puts fingers on Bridge of nose.*

I don't mean to say its stupid... But... It's stupid.

There was only one breed of Raptors. Want to know why? Too many Dromeasaurus would confuse Guests.

Curious why they're all different?

Ian Mentions something about, How species in Isolation evolve differently then Species that are connceted.

Site A's raptors Were Different Then Site Bs, Because of their Colouring, The Raptors on Site A, were in much different Conditions then Site B. Hence why their colouring was different.

"But what about the Feathers!??!" Some fan boy screams

Calm down. Notice how up until JP3 We never see any male raptors? Ever wonder what those Feathers were for? Those are for attracting a Mate. Notice how the Alpha (White) Doesn't have any? The alpha is female, while the rest, are male.

In TLW, It was a "Pride" Pack set up, where the Females hunt, while the Male protects the territory.

So, In conculsion... There is no "Raptor Types" Just different Stages...

You have a point Paden.

Techically there are males in TLW. There are two color morphs pesent in TLW pack with the original coloration representing the female and the newer red tiger striped individuals representing males.

Also the JP3 raptors are anatomically different from the raptors in the first two films not only in color and having display quills on the males, but in head shape, eye size, pupil shape, and tooth alignment within the mouth. Evolution takes thousands or even hundreds of thousands of years over successive generations which is much too long for these differences to have occured. Also behaviorally the JP3 raptors are more organized, intellegent, and less violent then the raptors in the first two films which were described to and shown to kill each other.

The most probable reason for the differences are that two "subspecies" were cloned differenty with sornaensis having more dromaeosaur DNA then the nublarensis raptors. This explains why the JP3 raptors looked and behaved more like true dromaeosaus while the ones in the first two films were more reptilian.

The subspecies theory is very attractive, and I want to agree to it, but it does'nt explain one scene in JP3. When Alan Grant has the 'nightmare' in the plane, he sees a raptor speaking beside him. The raptor uses the newer design, though Alan persumably never saw the new 'subspecies'. Again, on the island, Alan Grant made no comment on the changed design. Maybe the film producers just wanted to upgrade the design of the dinosaurs to match more recent studies, and chose to ignore continuity.

That scene annoyed me a lot and I believe you are right about the upgrade. It is stupid that they could not for at least one scene in which It was needed use the original raptors and then introduce the new ones as a suprize. Still JP3 was not the best of JP saga and I guess if you want to have fun with it you could say the scene was a "Psycic Vision in a Dream".

I'd love to see the stripped one from TLW

I didn't know there were two different velociraptors in JP, so I don't know.

Youre fat, and I'm not sugarcoating it cause you'd probably eat that too.

Do note, These are Genetic Abominations, Most of our Standard rules of logic, do not apply.

True enough for if there are T-rexes with movement based vision and Dilophosaurs with neck frills then anything can happen. You have a good point, and I do respect your opinion on this. Plus the third movie was already full of holes so who really knows.

Actually I wonder if as more were cloned on Site B before the incident, with inproving genetic accuracy, once they escaped and eventually breed with each other in the wild, the ones with more complete dromaeosaur DNA out competed the rest or at least moved to the spot on the island were JP3 occured, to avoid competition.

That would explain why the ones in the first two movies looked more reptilian and acted more violently towards each other, as compaired to the JP3 raptors, due to their more reptilian DNA.

Something Real

JOHN MORRISON - Hmm, this is a very compelling topic! For starters, I'd have to say that my favorite raptor iteration is undoubtedly the original - that from Jurassic Park. There was something menacing and subtly sinister about those beasties that made me shudder - something the later raptors (in my opinion) lacked. There was a feeling of burgeoning intelligence with the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park - a sense that they were steadily comprehending more and more as they went along. They used their cunning and slmost chimp-intelligence to terrorize the humans unfortunate enough to cross their paths! In the Lost World, the raptors were reduced to an obstacle - one of which stared dumbly as it was acrobatically kicked through a slatted roof by a young woman who couldn't have weighed more than 90lbs (but not before giving a commical - and rather goofy - look of shock before it was booted). I'm female and weigh 105lbs, and I very much doubt I'd have the force to send a 350lb animal hurtling through a barrier in a similar fashion. Then again, I'm no gymnist! In Jurassic Park III, the raptors reclaimed some of their former menace, but never quite (in my opinion) achieved the same feeling of dread. There was something about the way in which the whole "talking to one another" was presented that made it seem forced and somewhat silly. When the dinosaurs were turning to one-another and mouthing their chirps, squeaks, and caws in the same fashion that you and I might have a chat over a cup of tea, it seems...off. In Jurassic Park, when the two raptors that have entered the kitchen after Lex and Tim "communicate", there's a cold, animalistic, yet extremely intelligent undertone to the whole exchange! Thank you very much for having presented this topic! It's extremely fun! :)
