The North
As Synca leaves the mountains, he decides on the best course of action. He will head as far north as he can. Synca is not one for risks. Plus, he fears Scarface may reach him if he stays in one place too long. As he leaves Colorado, Synca takes a break to get a meal. He sees a rather large lizard and chases it down. It’s not much, but it’ll help keep him going. Synca can sense a change in the wind. Summer is ending. Synca has grown quite a bit since he left Texas. In fact, he’s on the edge of maturity. In a few months time, he’ll be a young adult.
With winter coming, Synca begins to notice the difference between the northern plains and the southern swamps. Back in Texas, winter had little effect on him. Here, he can already feel the air begin to cool. As Synca curls up to sleep, he dreams of a new life in the northern plains. Free of pain, free of sorrow, free of the plague. Unfortunately, fate will not be so kind. But until then, Synca enjoys his new life.
After a few months, Synca has finally reached what will become Canada. He thinks to himself, “This is it.” The plains of Canada stretch for miles before him. Synca can see a herd of hadrosaurs lumbering in the distance. Behind them, a chain of snow capped mountains reaches skyward. Synca breathes a sigh of relief. Now that he’s here, he must find a new home.
It took a while, but Synca is now settled into his new home. He’s established a territory and is more familiar with the animals he lives with. As he patrols the outskirts of his territory, Synca catches the scent of something. But it’s not the usual prey or rival. This smell is different. It peaks his interest. Synca takes a deep breath and follows the trail. It’s long and winding, but not too difficult to follow. Eventually, he finds himself at the edge of another territory. Synca’s not sure who has claimed this area, but his desire to find out who the scent belongs to overrides his need for caution. Ever so slowly, he makes his way inward.
After a short hike, Synca has found the center of the territory. Except for the scent, there’s no sign of the owner. Synca does notice a small pond only a few yards away. He’s somewhat thirsty and goes for a drink. Just as he bends down to drink, he finds himself tumbling head over heels due to some unseen force. When he gets back up, he locks eyes with his attacker. He snarls, but stops when he sees who it is. The perpetrator of the scent. A female Nanotyrannus. The female, Lunar, growls at Synca. Synca quickly tries to defuse the situation. He submissively rolls onto his back to express his intentions. When Lunar sees this, she becomes more relaxed. She goes over to him and licks his face. Synca rises up and does the same. Lunar shrieks in joy and begins to run about. Synca is seized with happiness. He chases Lunar around in a game of tag. They play and frolic without a care in the world. Synca has not felt so good in years.
As the sun sets on Canada, Synca and Lunar curl up together at the top of a small hill. They watch as the night sky comes alive. The Northern Lights begin to put on a spectacular show for them. As Lunar closes her eyes and rests her head against Synca, his worries melt away. Synca is finally at peace. Soon, he too falls asleep as the Northern Lights dance above him.

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
