MemberCompsognathusDec-21-2013 1:30 PMThis weeks Dino of the Week is Pyroraptor!
At 8 ft(2.5 meters) long and 125 pounds, Pyroraptor was one of the larger raptors. Like all raptors, Pyroraptor had large sickle claws. They were over 4 inches long in Pyroraptor. It also has one of the best dinosaur names in my opinion. Like all raptors, Pyroraptor was fast. It could probably hit at least 35 miles per hour. This raptor was also smart and a likely pack hunter. Pyroraptor would have faced competition from a number of larger carnivores like Arcovenator and Tarascosaurus. Pyroraptor lived in Europe about 80 million years ago. Another raptor called Variraptor was found in rocks that dated back to the same time and it's possible that they're the same animal. Pyroraptor was featured in the documentary Dinosaur Planet. A raptor named Pod is shown as a prehistoric Gulliver and ends up on an Hateg Island, the island of dwarf dinosaurs. He encountered a number of familiar faces on a much smaller scale. While no dwarf Pyroraptors have been found, it's possible they did exist(the same can be said for dwarf Tarascosaurus').
Pyroraptor...
PS- Sorry I missed it yesterday. I ran out of time :)

MemberCompsognathusDec-22-2013 9:49 PMSame here. That was the show that introduced me to Tarascosaurus and Aucasaurus which are now among my favorite dinosaurs.
