This seems to be a scientific study with really sad implications for our dreams: Researchers from the Faculty of Life Sciences at The University of Manchester have shown in a new paper that it was impossible to extraxt any DNA molecules from bees trapped in copal, a precursor for amber, for 60 and 10.600 years.

So, what do you guys think? Do we all have to dream of different ways to get paleo-DNA from now on? Or could there still be hope for the amber-extraction method?
The idea of extracting DNA from amber was shot down A LOOONG time ago, There is many other ways to get it... we just have to be creative...
"Extinction isn't always forever..."
ALSO delta... if we obtained DNA samples we could avoid a HUGE FRIGGING PARADOX... (haven't you watched primeval new world? Canada for the win!!!) and have more fun and risk less...
Life cannot be contained, it breaks walls, crashes through barriers sometimes painfully, but uh... Life uh, finds a way

I remember I had a documentary on VHS, something like "The Real Jurassic Park," narrated by Goldblum. And I remember them talking to a bunch of geneticists who WERE trying to extract DNA from mosquitos in amber, and they said that although there was blood intact from prehistoric animals, none so far had dated anywhere near as far back as the mesozoic era. But I think they did talk about a couple prehistoric mammals.

It seems to me that, for right now, not wanting to wait a few 100 years, the most promising way to get something like a dino would be Jack Horners Chickenosaurus-project. :(
