Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Return Despite the painful memories, Storm stays in his old home range. The area was crawling with raptors and it took awhile for him to restore the original populations. Other than that, everything is as he remembered. He visits the lake that he visited with his parents all those years ago. He visits the place where he went hunting with his parents for the first time. The one place he does not visit is the nesting area. Storm has vowed that, as long as he lives, he will never go back there again. It’s been a few days since he last ate, and Storm decides to try and catch something. He finds a juvenile hadrosaur that has been separated from it’s herd and he pulls it down. The meal gives him new found strength. After eating, he patrols his territory. He does this for two reasons. One is because he really does need to make sure that his home is free of rivals. But the patrol will also allow him to try and find Synca. He has not seen the Nanotyrannus for years, but does not forget his friend. However, it’s no use. Synca is not here. Storm heads back to the center of his territory. On the way, he sees something. A log with numerous claw marks and a large hole in the side. He investigates the log and remembers. It’s the one he hid in when he had his first encounter with raptors. If it were not for his father, that log would have been Storm’s grave. Storm looks to the sky and roars at the top of his lungs. Everything in his home range hears it and knows that Storm, son of Kano and Longtooth, has returned.
