Now that Trex has strong evidence of being at least partially hunter, how do you think it hunted? Here's my theory:
Trex hunted in packs, age ranging from sub adult to oldest. Once a male & female mated, the male stayed with the pack and the female went off to make her nest. Once the eggs hatched and grew large enough to fend for itself, the mother abandoned it and had to try to get into another pack. Once the sub-adult aged enough it too would try to find a pack.
How to you think the king hunted
Pretty sure that if indeed a pack hunter, it would be a family group consisting of the alpha male and female, sub adults, and chicks. The sub-adults would likely be female, while the male sub-adults would be driven away from the pack. The sub-adults would likely chase the prey to the adults, who then killed it.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

The way i see it, T. rex was probably a giant Spotted Hyena. A primary hunter with a bone crushing bite. I think it would have been social like a hyena but not always a pack hunter. I also think it could have been a good scavenger when big enough to throw its weight around but it would have primarily been a hunter of hadrosaurs by ambush and an efficient one at that.
I think that they are all the time hunters, but will not pass up a good dead hadrosaur. In my opinion, they lived in a family pack. The teenager T. rexes slowly drift away from the pack as they get older, until becoming solitary.

Sounds like Lions to me. Biggest in the "pride" provided protection and muscle (be they female or male), and the younger more agile members hunted at night using pack tactics and superior sense of smell.
