Deinonychus will be replacing Velociraptor as the man sized raptor with extreme intelligence. A smaller Velociraptor, however, will appear later on.
Deinonychus

Height: 6 feet
Length: 20 feet
Weight: 750 lbs
Weapons: Huge sickle shaped claws, powerful but light build optimal for speed, primate-like intelligence, pack hunting
Speed: 45 mph
Diet: In packs it could feed on medium sized herbivores.
Description: A large raptor, this dromaeosaurid was an intelligent, fast and deadly dinosaur. A pack hunter, this killing machine was capable of taking down small to medium sized herbivores in small packs.
Achillobator

Height: 6 feet
Length: 20 feet
Weight: 1,000 lbs
Weapons: Bite, sickle shaped claws, power, speed, pack hunting
Speed: 35 mph
Diet: Medium sized herbivores
Description: One of the largest raptors, this cousin of Utahraptor was built for power rather than speed, though it was exceptional in that department as well. It was a pack hunter. Achillobator had strangely set hips. Some scientist argue it increased kicking power, while others argue it increased speed and flexibility.
Fight!
At noon on Isla Sorna, a hers of Parasaurolophus walk in a marsh at the edge of the forest, munching on plants. It is overcast and raining, and the herbivores are heading for the forest to take shelter after their meal.
Suddenly, a twig snaps on the brush. The alpha bugles to let his herd know that danger is near. They suddenly flee into the forest, with a pack of hungry Deinonychus in hot pursuit to their right. As they break into a clearing, a pack of Achillobator break out of the tree line. The two packs of raptors separate one large female from the herd. They work together to bring her down. As her herd bugles mourning calls in the distance, she feebly responds, but is cut off by a claw to the throat. As soon as she dies, the cooperation is over. The Achillobator pack of five hop on top of the creature, but the equal pack of Deinonychus do as well, hissing at the Achillobator. Tensions rise between the two packs, neither wanting to give up the kill, since there is only enough to feed a pack of five. Suddenly, the a Deinonychus on Achillobator off, starting the war. The Achillobator alpha calls her pack to attack and the dinosaurs fight on the grassy plain. The alpha Achillobator manages to hold down one of the smaller Deinonychus with claws to the chest. It is preparing to go for the fatal bite when another Deinonychus leaps onto its back, knocking it over. The smaller Deinonychus gets up and attacks as well, but two of the Achillos manage to free their leader, her ankle badly wounded, she limps away from the fight for a moment. The rain comes down harder as thunder booms. Two Deinos focus on the second largest Achillobator, kicking it to death with their claws. Hearing its dying calls, the alpha peeks out from behind the carcass, looking for a way to help. As another is pinned down by the male Deinonychus alpha, she makes her move. Leaping up on to the carcass, she springs off, tackling the Deino alpha and kills him with a quick stab with her claw and a bite to the neck. As she limps away again, a Deinonychus with a badly wounded arm and eye runs at her. In mid-jump it is tackled by the youngest Achillobator, coming to her Leander's defense. As the Deinonychus struggles under the young Achillobator, another tries to come to its aid. The alpha returns the favor by blocking it at the cost of a broken rib. The other two Achillo dispose of it quickly, but the largest Deino attacks one, inflicting a mortal wound by slicing the creature's belly open. The alpha and youngest limp away into the forest, knowing it is too late for the other member, but he manages to take down one Deinonychus with him. The older injured female will survive, as will the younger female with small bite wounds that saved her life. Mourning calls sound out through the night. The remaining three Deinonychus have a nice meal, but at the cost of their leader. The younger female with an injured arm will take its place. Don't despair for the Achillobator pair, though. They come back early the next morning for the remains left by the Deinonychus.
WINNER: DEINONYCHUS, 3 SURVIVING
With superior intelligence, the Deinonychus barely came away with a win. Though the Achillobator was more powerful, it's looser pack connection and inferior speed cost it the battle. The Deinonychus' ability to communicate well and learn gains it a win.

MemberCompsognathusMay-21-2013 8:07 AMNot really. I have an outline of the dinosaurs that will show up, but it's not definitive. I'll start working on during the semi-finals of this class. Still open for suggestions!

MemberCompsognathusMay-21-2013 8:10 AMWill Argentinosaurus be in there? Any other sauropods or titanosaurs?

MemberCompsognathusMay-21-2013 8:15 AMHow did you know? Haha seriously though its actually in the mix. I'm not sure if any others will appear, since its obvious that the smaller sauropod/titanosaur wouldn't survive. I've been working out the Argentinosaurus battle for a while now and I can't wait to post it! One of my favorites!
