MemberCompsognathusApr-07-2013 9:42 AMFor one thing, I don't think Giga was bigger than Rex, but that's my opinion. It was still big don't get me wrong, 43+ feet long and 7-8 tons, but I think it was too close to T-rex. While they are not closely related, they are practically the same creature. Both have large skulls, relatively small arms, and are about the same size. The only difference is Gigas arms are slightly longer with 3 fingers and T-rex is stronger overall. Giganotosaurus was still a really fierce carnivore, but I think it's too close to T-rex.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexApr-07-2013 12:29 PMWell, it would be really cool if both were involved, both chasing a different group of people, and when the people meet, so do T.Rex and Giga. The fight wold be close, but I see T.Rex coming out on top. T.Rex had millions of years of evolution over Giga, so it was more advanced. T.Rex had forward facing eyes which gave it binocular vision, it's bones were denser to handle fights and the force of it's own bite when it's jaws snapped close. T.Rex was more intelligent than Giga, and was more equipped for fighting. It's biggest disadvantage was it's tiny little front arms.

MemberCompsognathusApr-07-2013 10:18 PMi think when the group first gets on the island the rex and giga should attack them the giga should kill the rex (BUT recent research shows rex's traveld in herds) and near the end the pack of rexs comes and beats the bejesus out of the giga killing it and mauling it viciously

MemberCompsognathusApr-08-2013 2:07 AMNo... Spinosaurus already beat T-rex... I don't want to rag on the king but there are much bigger and meaner dinosaurs and the T-rex has had his shining moments. They should include some more water Dinos like a Plesiosaurus, and more flying Dinos as well. They need to make this movie pretty crazy to keep the thrill factor. I want to feel genuine tension and fear, while still seeing a pleasant and well thought out story. God I wish I could be part of this so many Ideas...

MemberCompsognathusApr-08-2013 1:14 PMI'd like to see new dinosaurs put into the film as well but I would be really happy if they kept some of the old dinos as well. Perhaps they can make this movie 3 hours long but still awesome if they have a good plot to go with it, then they can fit as many dinosaurs as they want. I'd still love to see T-Rex get his main role back though, they can have other big carnivorous dinosaurs but to me (and I'm sure to most other people on here), the T-Rex IS Jurassic Park.

MemberCompsognathusApr-08-2013 1:47 PMGiga head is really thin on top one bite from rex he would have no face left !!!!
He was longer though, which to me means jack shit unless ur planning on using ya body as a bridge for things to run across.
Rexy was built for battle .
Lovin the idea o the two groups of ppl bein chased by both rex and giga n then meeting though! Tht was a fun idea , with an epic battle

Yes, there were carnivores that were larger than T.Rex, but larger doesn't always mean meaner. T.Rex was a hunter that preyed on creatures like Triceratops, and Ankylosaurus (if there was no other food in sight and it was really hungry), but given the choice, would likely go for an Edmontosaurus. Of course, Giga took down Argentinasaurus in packs. T.Rex was a lone hunter, and if it did hunt in packs, it would likely be a family group until the kids were large enough that the mother thought they could take care of themselves and drove them away.

MemberCompsognathusApr-09-2013 2:25 PMGiga was in fact bigger than Rex, however I like MrHappy's point that bigger isn't always meaner. You really can't tell with all the debate. Spino is taller and longer than rex, but with the fragile sail and smaller bite force, etc, he wouldn't be a worthy opponant. same goes for Giga, it's really hard to tell who would win. Giga IS bigger, but the whole pack dynamic is different, the skull is thinner, lots of variables to consider. I personally favor rex over giga.
Here's my thought: should rex even have a competitor in JPIV? Or, should a large superpredator take rex's place, and there not be any competition? Maybe another Rex-vs.-Spino-esq fight would be too similar to Jurassic Park III. I'm not opposed to the idea, but if a fight between superpredators will occur, the scene itself should be longer, more complicated, and have the movie characters right in between. I love the part in Jurassic Park III where Grant is stuck between rex and Spino and is screaming! So funny!

MemberCompsognathusApr-09-2013 5:27 PM@dinosaur.fanatic yh i loved that bit wen grant was like "ahhhhhh" haha it is funny!
in JP3 i think that scene needed to go on for at least another 30secs. And could have been better if they got injuries as apposed to death. Cos for the movie sake they made spino the new "big guy on the block" and so made him win (which i thinks bolox) but thats an opinion.
Would have been cool if say spino had an arm bitten off or summin , if rex HAD to die so at least its not in complete vein! Or even have a fight n then before either is killed one backs down n runs off to live another day untill they meet AGAiN !! .
That does happen in animal kingdom very often .

MemberCompsognathusApr-09-2013 6:04 PMI think the new one should be a small but deadly predator like the Procompthagnisius from the first and second books, or the (I forget the name) new dinosaur introduced into the Jurassic Park game. That would be harder to contend with. Of course it shouldn't be the only enemy, but quite possibly the main one. Perhaps it would be the recently discovered rat like dinosaur, who knows?

I think procompsognathus (assuming that is what you meant) would be a better one for when the people think they are safe in a cave that is to big for T.Rex or Gigantosaurus or whatever the heck the big predator is. Procompsognathus was a chicken sized dinosaur. Are you by chance referring to the little green dinosaurs that killed the guy behind the log in the third movie? Also the same dinosaur that scared the little girl in the second movie, and the one that got electrocuted by the guy with the cattle prod.

MemberCompsognathusApr-02-2014 12:43 PMHi everyone, love the post.. nice to see some of us out there still are interested in the awesome stuff. Anyway i know i am pretty out of date on this topic but i have a few ideas myself. I first wanted to say that, to be honest i and probably a lot of people out there were a little shattered when um... T Rex got shattered by Spino in 3. I feel that at that point in time most people still had a lot to learn about Spino and the fact that he snaps Rex's neck in like 3 minutes was like having the rug ripped from my feet.At that point Spino's true depicted size was only recently brought to knowledge and i think the creators of the movie sort of just took it and ran with it for the thrill. I have always loved dinos tho i stopped and focused on other things for years.. i am now 21 and can remain humble and open about anything on this subject. Lets just say it. T Rex was everyones favorite dino as a kid ... well i will speak for myself and anyone i knew. This monster had an ego bigger than itself and its been dead for millions of years. Remember all the old books and pictures that depicted t rex standing straight upright? Bad ass i might say seeing as it looked as though it could see over trees. Anyway i could keep ranting but i am totally down for discusion if anyone is interested. Heres what i have. Remember Sue? you know the largest t rex ever found. If we are going big then I think that somehow (you know anything is possible with jurrassic park) dna is extacted from her fossils. Now i know what you are thinking. fossil is rock.... well thats for the creators to solve not me but i think... somehow a replica dinosaur a clone maybe is introduced and she is massive... i mean BIG . if that could be incorporated in the story i think that would beef it up a little... it could shed somelight on Sue for those who dont know about her and it wouldnt even have to be the main plot.....just a crazy side that seriously disrupts the main story. I dont know just an idea that might not make sense but it sounded good to me.
UCMP 118742
MemberCompsognathusApr-02-2014 1:17 PMSue actually isn't the largest anymore. There have been finds of new specimen that are larger, but those are fragmentary and relatively new, so the general public doesn't know about them. A pretty big one was UCMP 118742, it's only known from a single upper jaw, but that thing was gigantic. When scaled up using Stan (he had one of the largest skulls relative to body size) that thing measured 11-12 metres. Almost as long as Sue, the only difference is that Sue was 28 years old and UCMP was 16 years old at death and since Tyrannosaurus kept growing his entire life...
