Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumSpinosaurus and Oxalaia

Having pits on its snout would make more sense if it was  truly aquatic. I think it spent most of its time in land but would venture into water when it wanted to. And just explain to me how you go from 7 to 9 tons for oxalia to 11 to 12 tons.

The one on the wall of the gift shop is obviously Giganotosaurus. Search Giganotosaurus on google images and that picture will be one of the first ones that pops up.

Well just explain to me how you think oxalia, an animal in the weight range of 8 tons to a 12 ton monster. And show me proof and evidence because a 5 ton difference is a lot.

I understand this is opinionated data, but these sizes for ALOT of animals really are inaccurate on what we know about each specimen. This is your opinion, but if you would like to know where you could fix/change certain things, PM me.

if this list is your opinion, state such in the OP. the line between opinion & fact is awfully blurred here...

do you have any sources for these sizes? anyway, we have a tiny bit of dentary & the end of the premaxillae for O. quilombensis. basing off of suchomimus(5.5 tons is too much btw) TSL = ~1.18 meters which would put it in S. tenerensis' weight range (2.5-4 tons)

LORD OF THE SPINOSAURS - What a very neat series of data! I greatly enjoy how you've presented each animal! How did you draw your conclusions, if I may ask? :)

LORD OF THE SPINOSAURS - How very compelling! I'd adore seeing a Giganotosaurus or Carcharadontosaurus! Thank you very much for sharing this! :)

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Oxalaia:

Now, next to a spinosaurus skull:

Honestly, if anything Oxalaia is BETTER suited to an aquatic lifestyle based on the position of the nostril.

You're wrong, and your Oxalaia estimations are unfounded.

@Lord of the Spinosaurus

Don't jump the gun. Just because it's in the shop, Doesn't mean it even appears in the film.

I mean, Look at a Dinosaur Museum gift shop. They've got a lot of Things in there, But that doesn't mean they'll have said Specimen in there museum.

The Species list on the JW Site is as far as we know, The Species list for the Island. Until we find more evidence, those are all there are for specimen.

The "Pachyrhinosaurus" That is pictured above, And explained by @TheDinosaurMan Was a Toy from the JP Collection Sold last year to co-incide with the JP3D Release.

However, Due to some Weird form of Laziness by Graphic Designers, We get this Really Poor edit to the current Box of Pachy and Allosaur released last year, Aswell as many other Repaints from JP3 and Prior years. Litterally all they did was take the JW Logo on a white back ground and paste it over the Jurassic park one.

I can confirm these will realease, I've got one right here beside my Labtop from Last year for jp-3d.

Judging by the snout of Oxalaia it does not seem to be as well adapted to an aquatic lifestyle as Spinosaurus, I am just going off the evidence we have. If we find more fossils of Oxalaia will my thoughts change of it? Probably.

Ok, woah. I find your estimations for Oxalaia to be really out there, and I'm the guy that wants to put feathers on triceratops. I mean, we have so little of it to go off of, and what little we have suggests an animal slightly smaller that Spinosaurus. I think that the idea of Oxalaia being the two-legged spino-monster of yore is also absurd. I think that Oxalaia represents the descendants of spinosaurus, and would've likely been very similar to the current models of spinosaurus. I think that 9-8 tons seems like the highest reasonable estimate.

In short, I think your beliefs on Oxalaia are completely and totally unfounded.

Hmm, ok. Though this might hint at Pachyrhinosaurus being in the film.

TheDinosaurManDinosaurs ForumCeratopsian Toy in Giftshop?

The Pachyrhinosaurus toy?  A lot of these toys seem to be reprints of original toys.  I think those might be only used for the films purpose (since they haven't had any toys really made for the film when they filmed it), so we'll get new toys when they actually hit the shelves.

I'm still looking, though I want to point out that the construction hats on the far right have the original Jurassic Park logo on them like the ones in the beginning of the first movie.

I can't tell what species. It is a bad angle.

I personally think a creature like that would be very muscular and would have somewhat dense bones (not as dense as spino's, but still dense). If you wish to state your own opinion then make a list of your own, this isn't an official list.

Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumMy Top 10 Largest Theropods

11 tons! that is still way too much. It should be 8 to 9 tons max. Not 11 tons. That is spino sized.

Reply
Lord of the SpinosaursDinosaurs ForumMy Top 10 Largest Theropods

I lowered my estimate of Oxalaia to 11 tons, 12 tons was a little bit of an over-estimate. Though Oxalaia still tops my list, I told you guys this list would be full of surprises ;)

Lord of the SpinosaursDinosaurs ForumMy Top 10 Largest Theropods

Whoops, sorry Mr. Happy, we were posting at the same time. Anyways I put Oxalaia on top because it was probably similar to the "old Spinosaurus". Why? Well it seems to lack a lot of those pits in the snout of Spinosaurus and its nostrils look like they are towards the end of the snout unlike Spinosaurus which has its nostrils close to its eyes. This suggests that Oxalaia did not have as much of an aquatic lifestyle, though we have not found legs of it, so, I would not confirm that it looked like the "old Spinosaurus".

Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumMy Top 10 Largest Theropods

Show me evidence for oxalia being the biggest theropod. From what I understand and all reliable sources oxalia is 5 to 8 tons at max and 46 to 50 feet long at max. So it should not be first. I will debate with you more tomorow. I am tired.

I have my brothers macbook because he got a new one, though that is still pretty old for a macbook, I've never tried it on there. I also have my iphone 5c and my ipad 1, I do a lot of my posts on my ipad 1 but that is even worse than junky computer I am on now. I have never tried my iphone 5c, though that may be a little complicated.

Yeah.

Personally I don't really want to see Giga. Don't see it that interesting to want to see it on the big screen let alone the Jurassic Park franchise.

I don't know if they have the same problems, just to clarify. Yeah, only know him and some others on Wikia.

And it's alright. Try to see if you could get a better computer, if possible.

Lord of the SpinosaursDinosaurs ForumGiganotosaurus in Jurassic World?

Of course there not gonna focus on it (if its gonna be in JW), that goes do D-Rex of course.

Though I think we can agree we both want to see Giga in JW, even if its just a cameo or something.

Oh, so the error is only with you, strange. I know Rexfan pretty well, we are on another forum so I may message him, though I don't want to push him to do it. I do feel bad having all the "higher powers" (moderators, staff, and admins) adding the pictures to my posts just because I have a junk computer.

Reply
Raptor-401Dinosaurs ForumGiganotosaurus in Jurassic World?

Still, I don't think they would want to focus on a Giga for Jurassic World. Like I said, pretty sure it's just there for scenic design.

To be honest they do but there are mods like Rex Fan and Gojira2K.

Ok, I might not ask the Staff or Admins, they probably have more important things to be doing.

i don't know, its hard to say for sure.

They did put the velociraptor on there too and thats on the island.
