I'm not bashing Torvosaurus either. It was among the largest predators of the late Jurassic. But I don't think it got bigger than 36 ft(11 meters).

I think that's the pic:

Hope it works

Haha, it reminds me of Pacific Rim. Nice short "chapter" BTW.

I'm not bashing Torvo or anything Here's a photo
I mean this isn't 100% reliable but I think i remember reading about it somewhere else too. I think it would be awesome if Torvo had a skull 158cm big. He would be huge! But it just doesn't seem that way. either way though this still means Torvo was around 35ft. long which is still a tremendous predator.

Right. It is just so iconic... roaaaaaaaaaarrrrr-rooooaaaaaarrrrrr-rrroooor. Well, it seems I can't redo it here.

Not really, no, haha. But you got the point across ;)
ReplyRex Fan 684Jurassic Park ForumJurassic Park Book Ending VS Movie EndingNov 15, 2013
Agreed, the movie ending was better overall. Plus(the book wouldn't really have been able to do this I guess), the T-rex roar at the end was awesome and by far one of the greatest moments in Jurassic Park history.
ReplyDinoSteve93Dinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
True. Hmmm... I remember of the new Torvo skull, I red about it somewhere...
ReplyDinoSteve93Jurassic Park ForumJurassic Park Book Ending VS Movie EndingNov 15, 2013
I think the movie's ending was much better.
And think that it had to be different initially. In a first script, Hammond had to shot one raptor, and the other had to be killed by the T-rex skeleton. Glad Spielberg changed that, the T-rex vs. Raptors is much better.
Also, I was disappointed by the novel's ending as well, I found it a bit unoriginal.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
That is possible. Many finds are often downsized after further study.
ReplyEustreptospondylusDinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
I see Torvosaurus being able to reach around 38-40 ft. and about 4.5 -5 tons it's definitely possible, But didn't they say that the Portuguese maxilla was actually more around 120cm?
ReplyDinoSteve93Dinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
Exactly, they give extra weight, surely, but not 1-2 tons. That would be as much as a black rhino. That's a lot of flesh!
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
Just because an animal is bigger, does not mean it gets extra body parts. Those stay the same. They just get slightly bigger. They don't get extra.

Thanks. Personally I like the fact that in the novel dinosaurs have a lot more room, althought for me the movie version is much, much cooler!

Hmm, I think I know who that is ;)
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
Exactly, I know allosaurus is lightweight. That's why I said that a Torvosaurus and allosaurus being the same weight, no, just no. Torvo has to be heavier than that. Also Dinosteve, I was talking about extra bone, blood, tissue from extra muscle, extra fat, extra skull, extra organs, basically, extra everything. All that adds up.
ReplyDinoSteve93Dinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
Overall there are some good results, a few things I don't agree though:
1-I don't think the american Torvo could be a great comparison, as they lived in different areas, climates, hunted different preys, etc...;
2-I thought calculating weight would mean calculating at the same time organs, blood, and stuff. By 4 tons, what would you mean: bones? While your right in "bigger you are, you need more than heavier you are", I don't think organs and stuff could add a ton! Don't forget a ton is a lot of weight!;
Anyway, those are your thought, and I respect them, so good work, althought I don't agree ;)
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumMy Torvosaurus FindsNov 15, 2013
You mentioned comparing it to Allosaurus. Not so sure that's a good idea. Allosaurus and Torvosaurus were not very closely related, so Allosaurus does really make for a good comparison. Allosaurs overall tend to be lightweight. '
My Torvosaurus sizes
American- 26-30 ft(8-9 meters) and 1.5-2.5 tons
European Average- 33-36 ft(10-11 meters) and 3-4 tons
European Max- 40 ft(12 meters) and 5 tons

It was supposed to be Tyrannosaurus rex, but the head became a little longer and more slender than I planned on. It does resemble Albertosaurus in a few ways though.

ReplySniperDinosaurs ForumClash of the titans(remake of the first fight):Mother superriorNov 15, 2013
Rexfan.why you dont agree with the winner?
i think that those things decide the end of the fight:
-size
-age
-experience
-environment
-motivation(like hunger,or in this case the female protect her children)
-streght
-surprise
-damages that the animal got before and during the battle
-speed
-inteligence
in this fight the most thing stand near the giganotosaurus.but i respect what you say, because everyone vote his/her favourite.

It sure would be interesting to have it like that. Personally, I'd say Rexy is pretty damn accurate.
Nothing says T-Rex to me quite like this:
