What do you mean? I just added up the weights of different areas of a T.rex and got the overall weight. And, technically, your 8-8.5 ton estimate falls in the 7-9.5 ton estimate I came up with.
You should have stated That there are ferns because this is a huge game changer. Now the the smaller herbivores won't die out.
TK you can assume that there are rivers in the habitat even though I did not mention any, you can also assume that there are small plants on the ground for smaller herbivores which means there are ferns, grass was not abundant in the Cretaceous becuase it evolved in the Cretaceous.
I'm sure there are rivers. If not, well they are all dead.
I don't know Sci-Fi, you put a good fight.
Does this habitat also contain forest floor growing fernus plants, and does the habitat contain any sizeable bodys of water and or rivers.
All I want now is to visit Jurassic World... (At least, before the D. Rex breaks out.)
I've noticed that InGen has a page on the site, implying that they'll have a role in the film.
I believe this ecosystem wouldn't do too well, because there's a lot of herbivores, and the trees would be pretty tall for a few of the herbivores. Plus, with a bunch of carnivores, the smaller herbivores would die off. Also, the forests would probably be too dense for the larger herbivores.
MECH RODAN - These are beautifully rendered! I'll certainly inform DINOSTEVE of how well he's done! Thank you ever so much for sharing these with us! :)
I saw these earlier today. They're AMAZING!
The sauropods and hadrasauruds would thrive though the others would probably die off since there are SOO many herbivores and do little plants.
Allosaurus(mapusaurus)-sauropods, hadrosaurids.
torvo- sauropod, hadrosaurid, ankylosaurid, ceratopsians.
Droneosaurids- hadrosaurids, gallimimus.
Tyrranosaurids- all except sauropods.
carnotaurus- gallimus
oviraptor- anything.
This looks fun. Like above, I agree that the allosaurs would over take as the top predator. They were very generalized and could also pack hunt to take sauropods down.
I'm trying to contain my inner child excitement......it's not working YES!!!
@Something Real, you are welcome.
I probably can't vote, but I'd say that you won. :)
Welxome to the site! :)
I believe the carnivores would do fairly well, but the Velociraptors might not survive for too long, as they would have to compete with other carnivores for larger prey.
Most of the herbivores would survive, especially the Diplodocus, Ankylosaurus, Brachiosaurus and Triceratops.
^^ That is beautiful... :')
I believe what Raptor-401 said is most accurate, unless Masrani makes a Phase B...
I still believe that JP3 would be canon with the new film.
How did you estimate that weight?
I did some math, and I came up at 8 t, by scaling from Tarbosaurus. You must consider that Tarbosaurus is a bit skinnier than T.rex, so I'd add 200-300 kg, but still between 8 and 8.5 t.
REX FAN 684 - That's a bloody marvelous monument! Hang it all; my eyes are tearing up a little! :)
Glad you enjoyed it SR :)
I saw this pic the other day online and I think it relates to this topic quite nicely...

The week of debating is now over. Who do you guys think won?
COLDSAVAGE32 - Oh, blast it! I can't access the image or link you've provided. Regardless, I'm certain that the poster in your possession is quite neat! You're extremely fortunate to have been lucky enough to secure such a fantastic Jurassic Park collectiible!
Oh, and welcome to the site! We're always happy to see new faces around here! :)
MORTAEL - What a fantastic bit of detective work you've brought us! I hadn't seen the information stating that Hammond passed in the late '90s. Excellent work! :)
"Anyways... 2003 To 2005 The park is opened, Hammonds Death Most likey happened anywhere from 06, To 14."
The Masrani site clearly states:
In 1997 Simon Masrani began talks to acquire International Genetic Technologies after the passing of Dr. John Hammond in order to reshape and restore the company to a level of satisfaction once sought by the former founder. By 1998 InGen was under the Masrani umbrella and the years from 2002 to 2004 would help lead the Masrani company on their biggest adventure yet: the construction of Jurassic World on Isla Nublar.
So to me it looks like Hammond died somewhere in '97/'98.
Well I would have put him in there if I was certain of what other dinosaurs were going to be present, besides I did put a Dilophosauridae in there. While many people dont see my point of view I consider all of the Dinosaurs under the clade of Ceratosauria to be Dilophosauridae since they can all trace their lineages back to the Dilophosaurs. So by putting the Carnotaurus in I put one of the fastest, deadliest, and most powerful Dilophosauridae in play.
Well thank you for this it was acctualy quite fun doing this so dont expect the next on to be any shorter, but anyways here is my list.
Small Herbivore; Gallimimus
Large Herbivore: Edmontonia
Carnivore: Carnotaurus
Have fun with my choices.
Yeah, I just brought it up because thats what held me off about a few of the species like the Tricerotops, Tyrannosaurs, and the Ankylosaurus.
X_PADEN_X - These are fantastic points you've made! I certainly hope that we get a little information (perhaps a cameo) from Sir Attenborough; that would really help to tie things together - and might just make me tear up a bit! Blast it, I'm going to have to take a roll of tissues in my purse to this bloody film just in case! :)
One request, could you make the habitats a little more fleshed out, cause at a few times it was hard to make comparisons to how they could adapt to the environment when the description was so vauge.
Well then sir (cracks neck like a badd-ass) challenge accepted. Although I am dissapointed in myself that I couldnt think of more to say on the Stegosaurs, I think I might have hit the nail on the head with the Raptors though.
Very good theory Paden.
How I see it is that Marsani is probably going to get Site B and make it appear like it never happened, and just make it an urban legend/myth created by Ian Malcolm. Kind of what America tried to do with Area 51.
Until then, this is interesting, I imagine they will mention things like "Hammond's dreams are finally a reality" and things like that. Hopefully he plays a bigger role.
