Those are all cool, Spino Rex! I've always felt like Acrocanthosaurus could be an interesting minor antagonist for JPIV, but just my opinion. It is his decision wether or not he returns, But i agree if you cant get him back its a horrible decision to replace him with some other actor... Alas lets remember they're kicking off a new trilogy, as muhc as i hate to say it, i believe we'll see less of the older original characters and more of new characters

Yes but not too long, remember the shock wave from the asteroid killed a lot of things, it started tsunamis earth quakes and so on... AT most id give it a month to kill every dinosaur on the planet

The main reason I don't enjoy The Lost World as much as JP and JPIII is because there is a terrible LACK of Alan Grant!!!!!! Sam Neill provides such a sense of leadership and strength in his role, and it's no wonder kids are drawn to HIM when they are being attacked by dinosaurs. No one else could replace Alan Grant played by Sam Neill. I want him back for JPIV!!!

martinrandleJurassic Park ForumThe JP Books
I am hoping they will reboot the series and make something much closer to the books. Though Chrichton did make the mistake of killing off several of the main characters - and then having to resurrect one for the follow up. Which was a bit lame. "SPOILERS" One of the most important aspects of the book was over looked. Several of the species were breeding and getting off the island. This was briefly mentioned but nothing came of that information in the movie. In fact Grant smiled at the fact and moved on. In the book the urgency to get back to the visitors centre was based on the fact that Tim saw raptors on the boat leaving for the mainland and they had to make sure it didn't dock. "END SPOILERS" If you haven't read them - make this your mission before they release JPIV or JP reboot.

I think it would be great to see him in Jurassic Park 4. The script is still in production and I think there's a possibility he could be called in soon for the role.

DinoFightsDinosaurs ForumCharcharodontosaurus
Carcharodontosaurus is a personal favorite of mine. I think that it was built for killing large prey. It didn't have the instant-kill bite of T-Rex, but it had a good method. Carcharodontosaurids had teeth built for inflicting deep slice wounds, which were useful for killing sauropods. It would watch out for the tail so it wouldn't get whipped and take whatever opportunity it could to get in a bite. The bites would lead to massive blood loss, killing the sauropod slowly and causing it to collapse. This method would ensure that the sauropod didn't fall on it, which wasn't the case with instant-kill bites. If a T-Rex bit a sauropod in the neck and snapped its spine, it would possibly be crushed by the sauropod. Carcharodontosaurids could use speed to dodge the tail and move away fast when the titan fell. I think it would come down to who got the first bite in. If Carchar did, it would slow down the T-Rex and tilt the odds in its favor, allowing more bites. The T-Rex, however, could get the first bite and get the advantage as well. Location of the bite would be important, too. Like Makaveli7 said, it would have a fair chance of ending in a draw.

martinrandleJurassic Park ForumFAVORITE DINOSAURS IN THE TRILOGY
Tyrannosaurs will always be my favourite carnivore in the series. I'd have liked to see more of the Mamenchiosaurus from TLW (the long necked Sauropod in the round up scene) I think most of the herbivores get too little screen time in all of the JP series. Let's face it - you are in more danger from a Hippopotamus than a lion, (http://www.oddee.com/item_98002.aspx) so why should all herbivorous dinosaurs be considered 'peaceful'. The rhino is very dangerous too as are bull elephants - and even domestic bulls! TLW showed some herbivore aggression but none of the other movies did. Death by Triceratops!

It would have a good chance of being a draw. Either both would back down or Rex would get a good bite in and kill it then die of blood loss from the deep wounds Carch would leave or Rex would die first from blood loss then Carch later from infection.

T-Rex and Charcharadontosaurus would be one heck of a fight to see. There wasn't much of a size difference between the two. I personally think that Rex could beat Charchar more times than not. I think that is because T-Rex was slightly stronger, and it had millions of years of evolution over Charchar, so it was likely smarter.

I think it's an explanation as to how carcharodontosaurids fit in. Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rule most of the island, so the carcharodontosaurs find a place where they can thrive and stick to it.

Hmm. Well, it could be an indication as to where the battles with Carcharodontosaurids will take place.

Oooooo a cryptic message! Love it! Let's decipher its meaning! I think it means there will be team battles in season 3. Carcharodontosaurus and Giganotosaurus vs Mapusaurus and Tyrannotitan FTW!

Fricking Carcharadontosaurus! It outdid T. Rex on length and height, and had bite forces to match. A truly apex predetor, and anything that can rule Cretaceous Africa is pretty brutal...

futurepaleontologist1Dinosaurs ForumWhy T-Rex is better
Oh, sorry. :(. Who was that then?... But, if I may follow up on your open plains thing: Tyrannosaurus still would need to look out for obstacles like large rocks, fallen trees etc. It didn't require great eyesight, but T. Rexes may not have been good enough. Btw I am NOT a spino fan. I don't think either Rex or Spino was better, I'm just bringing some stuff up.

I believe it was more so like an apocalypse rather then a nuclear explosion, And most likely the asteroid broke into pieces in the atmosphere, Id imagine that the impact from the KT boundary probably blasted all surrounding dinosaurs a few KM or so *just a theory* Or perhaps there was no dinosaurs there... *look at north america... only about 42% of it is habituated....Think the rockies farm land... forests... all unoccupied* Also following up on the apocalypse theory *theres more then just zombie apocalypse mans more fascinated however by zombies* A basic apocalypse would be some sort of disaster *this is where they all branch out* most of the time the disaster wipes out most of the food/water supply Then its only a given time before all victims are destroyed *think of it like this herbivores eat plants, plants die out, herbivores start to die, carnivores eat herbivores, herbivores die out, carnivores eat carcass's, carnivores die out extinctions finished, new life begins* this happens a lot in the world of nature, evolve or die, its even happening today *though i cant think of any good examples...* I also believe desease would've played along with they're destruction, the asteroid would've killed a few and would've begin to kill them off by the hundreds but this takes a few days, reckon weeks... Truth be told.. we dont know *not unless you got a tardis OR delorion on hand *

T-Rex, my childhood favorite and still is now. Being one of the leargest carnivores to exist with a body size of 50 ft long and 9-10 tons, it was awesome. Not to mention it's huge jaws that could extend like an anaconda's to take big bites and swallow huge chunks of meat with it's big banana sized teeth. Also had the biggest bite force ever (not counting crocodilians at the time) and had strong bones used for taking heavy hits from tough prey like triceratops and ankylosaurus. It was and will always be the King of the dinosaurs, I even like the meaning of it's name, Tyrannosaurus Rex = "Tyrant Lizard King".

t-rex90Dinosaurs Forum10 Dinosaurs That Could Be The New Villain In Jurassic Park IV
Again, I prefer T-Rex to return as the main villain again but I would'nt mind those dinosaurs listed here as secondary villains, either Carnotaurus or Giganotosaurus. Carnotaurus because he was in The Lost World novel but never made it into the movie, I think it'd be cool to finally have him shown on the big screen in a JP movie. And Giganotosaurus because he's bigger than T-Rex and as you mentioned they could change his color and pattern to differentiate them.

Tyrannosaurus for sure. It's not just because he's the king and one of the largest predators ever, although that certainly plays a part in it. T-rex is just so interesting. Huge head, teeth, bite force, body, etc. Just an overall, classic dinosaur. Average size= 43-46 ft long, 7-8 tons Max Size= 50 ft long, 9-10 tons *Sizes based on my estimates

Spinosaurus, maybe. Or Carcharadontosaurus. T-rex just isn't the king anymore. Still a boss, but these two outshine him. Of course, Predator X is pretty cool too.

My favourite dinosaur is T-Rex. It is my favourite because I have known what T-Rex was since I first heard about dinosaurs when I was 3 or 4 (I'm 14 now). You know the facts on Rex, and I don't know how to post a picture.
